Hi,

I'm (obviously) a Tegenkamp. I live in Virginia, and all the Tegenkamp's I know are pretty much in Florida. Of course I only know as far back as my grandfather, Al.

My Dad and I are both interested in knowing more of the tree, but haven't really researched it too heavily, but we'd love to hear what you all know!

hi from illinios

I recieved the message from Andrew and I have done much research of the Tegenkamp family name. Franze Tegenkamp is a young man from Germany that recently traced the family to the United States and contacted my family in Illinois. I believe that he has also contacted some Tegenkamps in Ohio. If you would like more information please post a message on this board again.

Would love to hear anything you know!

Jackie,

Wow! I never imagined I'd meet anyone who knew the whole history. I'd love to hear anything you'd like to share and can tell you the little I know if you'd like too.

Thanks,
Andrew

it's your cousin david! been chasing down some family history myself. good to see you're doing the same! I have found a link to a very interesting story - probably the one jackie is referring to - of our family history. It was a lecture delivered by Franz-Josef. That is our great-grandfathers name as well! can you believe that? anyways, I'm going to talk with Roger tonight and get him on the trail as he has lots of info on the Tegenakamp lineage. here's the link to the site. enjoy and congrats on your recent engagement!

Andrew, thanks for including me! Jackie, I'm in Illinois, too. Are you in Effingham? My grandmother is Elizabeth Clara Tegenkamp, daughter of Antony John and Mary Clara Dust Tegenkamp. I have contacted our cousins in Canada and have some of their information. Actually, I gathered the information and sent it to them, and they were amazed that I did this on my own. Franz-Josef of Germany has put me on hold while he renovates his parents' home...months seem like years. I'm in contact with some Ohio Tegenkamps, thinking our connection is with a Clemons (Antony also had a brother by the name of Clemons). I only have Tegenkamps to Hermann Henry, but I have a couple generations of his wife on the Aumann side. You, Andrew have made me so happy. ALL U.S. AND CANADIAN TEGENKAMPS ARE KIN!!!!! I posted to your site a year ago, and got no reponse. Of course, it wasn't a genealogy site. Can we share, and can we find that connection to Ohio?

Thanks ever so much, DEAR COUSINS!

Melody Carter,
Yes, I am from Effingham. My grandfather, Lawrence Tegenkamp was born in Canada. His parents were Anhony and Cecilia Tegenkamp. My grandfather past away back in 1997 but most of the family still lives in this area. My grandfather married Merita Swingler. They had 7 girls and one son. My dad Richard is the one son. My aunt Sandy, dad's sister keeps in contact with Franz- joseph. Are you in Effingham also? Keep in touch.

Your cousin: Jackie Tegenkamp

Let's see...Lawrence, b. August 17, 1926 d.
June 09, 1997. One of my Daddy's favorite cousins. If you have Antony's and Clara's 50th anniversary picture, Daddy is front and center with his legs pretzeled up. I have a story about Ramona and the slow talking ways of the Tegenkamp family. Daddy passed away in 1993. I think his brother, Norman, keeps in touch with you all now and then??????

I am not in Effingham. I drove down this past fall and enjoyed myself very much at the library. I stopped by IGA to meet Tony but he had left for the day.

Can you e-mail me privately and we can continue some of this, trade info. etc. You are so fortunate to be right there in Effingham. I am not that far away, Paxton, and Mother lives in Decatur.

Looking forward to hearing from you.
