My grandfather (mother's side) was Frederick
August Tegeler; Born in Germany; Came here around 1900; Possibly born in Bremen, Germany. Mother's name - Mary Magdelina. Possibly settled in Wisconsin. Anyone know anything about family of Frederick Tegeler?

Surnames: Tegeler/Tegler
Have any of you looking for TEGELER family found that the name was ever spelled TEGLER (minus the middle E). I am the gr-gr-grand-daughter of Frederick TEGLER born 1820 in Westphalia Prussia. He immigrated to US via Bremen on the ship Magdeline. He lived for a time in Syracuse NY, then Hannibal MO where he is buried. His wife was Maria(Mary) Sophia LUND. They had three living sons - John Ernst, Fredrick John and Edward Georg. Any connection? I'd share any info I have. Thanks - Susan Tegler Petersen

Hello!...Although I do not have any written documents concerning this spelling, I can tell you that my mother, Mary E. Tegeler (Maiden Name) has her last named on her birth certificate as "Tegler". It is quite possible that the spelling was changed at Ellis Island. My Grandfather, Frederick A. Tegeler was born somewhere in Germany and came over when he was 4 years old. I have very little information on him except that he is buried in St. Joseph, Missouri and was married to Clara White, having 3 children...Mabel Eloise, Mary Elizabeth, and Frederick A. II...I also have a cousin ,son of my uncle Fred named Frederick A. Tegeler, III. However, I do not know where he is living. Maybe we can exchange more information soon...I have items packed away after a recent move yet to go through...I will send information to you when I "dig" out these items. Thanks...Jane

Hi Jane - It's interesting that my Teglers have similiar first names to yours. When you get settled and unpack those records, perhaps send me more info - my email address is bpeters2@qwest.net Thanks, Susan

My mother is a born Tegeler from the Bremen/Bremerhaven, Germany area. I still have aunts/uncles/cousins in that area. I am not familiar with Frederick, although my relations in Germany may have the ancestral data. I will be contacting them in November '02 when I will be visiting my mother in New England. If you still need info pertaining to this lineage please contact me prior to that date and I will inquire about specifics. Email: xterramom @yahoo.com

I wanted to say hello to Rick Tegeler. My name is Shelly and I am Eva Tegeler's granddaughter. Maybe you remember me? I am Jim Poage's daughter. I was "surfing" around and saw this message from you and wanted to just say hi. I knew it was the right "Rick Tegeler" because of a reference to diving in your address. My e-mail is ShellyCoxHome@aol.com if you want to write. Hope all is well with you.
