Surnames: Tegeler/Tegler
Hi Eduardo -
I saw you'd posted an inquiry on Gerhard Ernst Tegeler. I have a TEGLER (no middle 'e'). His name was Frederich G.(?Gerhard)Tegler. He came from Westphalia Prussia in 1850. He named one of his children with a middle name of Ernst. I wondered if Ernst was a common name in Germany - like John.
I also have baptismal documents for Frederick's children that used the spelling Tegeler. I'm confused with this TEGLER surname as I've seen it spelled many different ways -Teigler, Tigler, Thegler along with Tegler & Tegeler. So essentially I don't know if we're related. Can you or anyone shed any light on this surname and it's spelling? Thanks - Susan
