Teehan Family (emmigrated from kerry to Springfield, MA)
I believe my great grandparents names were John and Mary Teehan. They had several children including my grandfather James (Jimmy), Gerald (Gerry), "Babe", and Elizabeth ("Lil"). John and Mary (I will look up their names when I can find the right envelope) came to the US from the Dingle area of Co. Kerry in the latest 19th century and went first to Chicago, where John worked for a railroad. But they shortly moved back east to Springfield, MA and set up a milk distribution business. This business eventually evolved into a dairy store and ultimately to a convenience store, which is what I remember visiting as a child.

There was a Terry Teehan living in Castleisland. I think he returned from America, and ran a Pub in Castleisland. He is dead quite a few years now. I dont know if that is of any help to you, or if there is any connection at all to the Teehans your searching.. Margaret

Was the dairy located on Eastern Ave. in Springfield across from Holy Family Church? I think that the Teahans may have had an Oil and Coal Company in Springfield as well.

Also looking for info on the Teehan family from Springfield, MA. John Teehan came from Kerry County, (perhaps Dingle area) Ireland about 1905 and married Catherine Connors who came over about 1900.I think she came from Balensole or Ballenrobe which is in County Mayo. They both worked in Chicago for a period of time. She later worked in Albany and they were married in Albany about 1907. They settled in Springfield MA. and are listed in the 1910 and 1920 census. John owned the Teehan Dairy between 1930-1950's. Their children were, Elizabeth, Mary, Gerald, John, Esther, Margaret, and James. John and Catherine died in the 1950's in Springfield, Ma and are buried in St. Michael's cemetery.
