Working on my own family research, I ran across a link that might help someone. A HUGH VALLIANT died in Pulaski Co MO and his parents were named as John E Valliant b. MD and Henrietta TEEGARDEN. I saw one ancestry posting where someone named the mother 'Hannah' but I suppose Hannah could be a nickname for Henrietta. Here is the descendant information if it helps anyone. Hugh Valliant (s/o Henrietta Teegarden) had many children and I do not have them all listed here. He moved around a lot but was in Jackson Co KS, then Bazine, Ness Co KS in 1910 (incorrectly enumerated as Vallienvet living w/ McComas), then they moved to Pulaski Co MO by 1920. Hugh Valliant died 2 Jan 1916 in Pulaski Co. MO. His death cert naming parents is available online through SOS MO. His wife Susan F (Steele) Valliant and several of their children moved again with the Sanders McComas family to El Reno, Canadian Co OK. l last found her age 93 there. See below:

Sanders W. McCOMAS b. Nov 1869 KS m.ca. 1899 Elitha Ellen VALLIANT b. Jan 1874 IA. d. 9 June 1946 Canadian Co. OK. Elitha was the daughter of Hugh Valliant b. 28 Aug 1840 OH and his wife Susan F. Steele b. Aug 1846 IA or MO (she stated both). Sanders McComas was the sole survivor of his family following a series of tragedies of consumption. Sanders was just 12 when he was completely orphaned, both parents now deceased. His brothers would have been 10 and 8 at the time. No doubt the 3 young boys were taken in by one of the relatives in Jackson Co. KS. He married at the age of 29 in 1899 and was living with his new wife Elitha (Valliant) and firstborn Frank in Jackson Co KS in 1900. They must have had a bit of wanderlust in them as they moved around a lot after that. In March 1905 he was in Missouri (possibly visiting McComas relatives.) By 1910 however, he moved to Bazine, Ness County KS and is found living with his in-laws. Hugh Valliant age 69, his wife Susan F.Valliant age 64, and William S. Valliant age 29, their son. By Jan 1920 he has moved the family again and is found working as a Decorator in Crocker City, Tavern Twp, Pulaski Co. MO with the whole family still together and his widowed mother-in-law Susan F. Valliant, now age 78 living with them. Her husband Hugh Valliant died on Jan 2 1916 from chronic valvular heart disease while they were still living in Pulaski Co. MO. His death cert stated he was born Aug 28 1840 and that his father was John E. Valliant of MD and his mother Henrietta Teagarden. It appeared the body was to be shipped back to Bothen (?) MD. Sanders McComas and family (and mother in law Susan Valliant) then moved by April 1930 to El Reno,Canadian Co. OK where other McComas family members were living (children and grandchildren of Wm Burke McComas.) I also found the youngest child of the Valliant children also living in El Reno, Canadian Co. OK in the 1920 census: John E. Valliant. And her son Kirk Valliant died June 1968 in El Reno, Canadian Co. OK., so some of her children followed her and the McComas family into OK on the last move. Kirk Valliant's wife, Florence R. Dick b. 24 Feb 1889 d. 4 July 1978 whom he married in Jackson Co. KS is buried in Holton Cemetery, Jackson Co. KS. Sanders McComas was now 60, Elitha 56. One of the daughters, Mary, had married and had a child but lived in her fathers household, and Susan Valliant, his mother-inlaw was still alive at 93. Sanders listed himself as Painter, Paperhanger and his son in law as Decorator, so I suspect they were in business together. Sanders W. McComas and his wife Elitha Ellen (Valliant) McComas and several children are buried in El Reno Cemetery, Canadian Co. OK.
Sanders and Elitha (Valliant) McComas had:
Frank W. McCOMAS b. 4 Feb 1900 KS d. 16 Feb 1990 El Reno, Canadian Co. OK(still single Jan 1920) Gone from home in 1930. Buried El Reno Cem. Canadian Co. OK
Mary F. McCOMAS b.18 July1903 KS d. 28 Feb 1991 in Duncanville, Dallas Co. TX m. 1929 Raymond MUSSER b. 28 Dec 1903 MO d. 10 May 1989 in Dallas, Dallas Co. TX. He worked as a ‘decorator’, no doubt with his father-in-law painter/paperhanger. Lived with father in law 1930.
Mary and Raymond Musser had:
John B MUSSER b. 27 Feb 1928 IA d. 28 June 2002 in Enid,
Garfield Co. OK (SS# issued in TX)
Alice E. McCOMAS b.1 Dec 1905 KS d. 18 Jan 1990 in El Reno, Canadian Co. OK.(still single 1930 living at home and working as a stenographer at Yukon Mill.) Buried El Reno Cem. Canadian Co OK
Edward H. McCOMAS b.2 Jan 1909 KS d. 3 Nov 2001 in El Reno, Canadian Co. OK (still single 1930 living at home and working as a clerk in the railroad yards.)

Hi Cameron,
I have just read your post about Teegarden and Valliant. I dont know if it is the same family, but my father was Jack Valliant. His parents were named Effie Teegarden (this must have been her nickname) and John Valliant and they lived in El Reno Oklahoma. He was born in 1922 in El Reno as far as I know. He was the youngest of a family of six, and each child was born 4 years apart. He had a brother that was nicknamed 'Bud' but I dont know his actual name. Do you think this could be related? The other sisters were Calista, Edith, Topsy and one I cant recall.

Hi, Cameron and I have exchanged info in the past. He was specifically interested in the McComas line, which you and I are also involved in. Your grandfather (John Edward Valliant) and my grandfather (William Steele Valliant) were brothers. I have pictures of your great-grandfather Hugh Valliant, and wife Susan Francis (Steele) Valliant. I also have pictures of your grandfather (John Edward Valliant) but not of his wife Effie (Teegarden) Valliant. I have pictures of their children (Calista, Topsy, Edith, and Raymond...known as "Bud"). Also a couple of pictures of Hugh Kirk Valliant's children (Chester William and Gladys Valliant). Several pictures of various Valliant relations; Sanders McComas and wife Elitha Ellen (sister of William Steele Valliant) and some of their children. Glad to share any and all with you, and will be happy to accept any family information you have.

I am particularly interested in John E. Valliant's wife, Henrietta Teegarden. There is some real confusion as to who her parents are. There is a marriage record that states that a Hannah Teegarden married John E. Valeant, not Henrietta. I have seen the original marriage entry in the Ohio marriage records and it definitely states Hannah. However, I have much original documentation that states she is Henrietta (Teegarden) Valliant (including her signature). I found her grave several years ago after much searching. She is buried in Beatrice NE. She was living with her daughter, Elitha Moody when she died in Beatrice. Any info you might have identifying Henrietta and her parents will be greatly appreciated. I can send you much information on the family dating back to when they originally settled in MD, and why they moved to OH before moving to IA. I also have lots of info on Hugh Valliant (the civil war soldier), including a short biography on his life up until his death (he is buried in Butler MO, as is his wife Susan Francis Steele (she died in El Reno OK where she was living with daughter Elitha Ellen "Nellie" (Valliant) McComas, along with husband Sanders McComas.) My mother was present when Susan died. My mother had just gotten married to my father (Cloyd Franklin Valliant) and they traveled from KS to OK to visit.
Hope to hear from you, I'm sure we can exchange some good info.
Frank Valliant

Your reply to the man on Teegarden/Valliant came to me by mistake. I think you forgot to go into his msg and then hit reply. Somehow you directed it to me.
