This is an old email I found on this site years ago.
Message: Hi.
I am researching my mother's family. Her grandmother was Ada Lenton Sparry Teears, who married Thomas Teears. She was born a Lenton, married Sparry with whom she had one child. The child died at birth and Mr. Sparry died on his way to visit his wife. Their best friends were the Teears, Tom and his wife who also gave birth on hte same day as Ada, however Mrs. Teears died. So, to keep Ada from being upset by the deaths of her best friend, her husband and her child all in one day, the doctors and nurses and Tom Teears decided to give Mr. and Mrs. Teears' child to Ada. She named this child Frank Sparry (not knowing until later that he was not a Sparry). Tom and Ada married and came to America through Canada and they wound up in Philadelphia. They had 13 children that we know of and maybe two more daughters that they left in England (Tom's daughters). My grandfather was Charles Teears. I know that when he and my grandmother, Othello, lived in Camden, New Jersey, that they had relatives in Gloucester, New Jersey, that were Lentons. I know that this sounds crazy, but it is possible that we are related. My mother has just found out that there are Lentons who live in Woodbury, New Jersey, who are related to us in some way. Anyway, if this sounds close to the stories that you have heard and the information that you have, please contact me. Thank you! Laura

Hi, Laura, Just read the email about Thomas Teears and Ada. My late mothers name was Teears, her fathers name was William. His father was William Henry born about 1865 in Manchester. I think the Thomas you mention is one of his brothers.
Sad story with hopefully a happy ending.
Sue.

I have very limited knowledge of the Teears family but I am interested in trying to trace the name back to England. My father - Norman Teears was told by my gfather Charles that my ggfather was a captain of a ship that sailed back and forth from England. The story was that the family had left France during the French revolution, changed it's name to Teears. My brother says he traced the name back to the Isle of Man, but I'm open to any lead. This is a curious search, not a serious one.

You are the first person I know of who is not a Teears in name looking for Teears info that knows my gfather Charles & Othello from Caden NJ. You said you know of 13 children from Thomas and Ada. What can you tell me about the original couple, these 13 children and your connection to Charles? My father was Norman Teears. I grew up in Cherry Hill,NJ.

Hi Laura. I wanted to reply to you immediately, but I was having a difficult time thru ancestry. I'd be interested in sharing info with you. My email is donteears@yahoo.com. That would be easier for me initially until i know what I need to operate an ancestry account. Is baptist your last name? I'm a baptist pastor living in the Outer Banks of NC, so it's a curiosity to me. Hope to hear from you soon.
