Im looking for information of my g.g.g.granfather William Tee who was from Northhampton. He was convicted and shipped to Australia in 1837. Im guessing based on his age at time of his daughters birth in 1857 that he was born about 1815.

Anyone have this William on their family tree??

Hi Daphne, thanks for replying. My William was the son of Robert & Elizabeth Tee. He was born in Brigstock Northhamptonshire about 1815. As mentioned he was transported to Australia for break & enter in 1836. William's brother Robert was also transported to Australia in 1839. If you find a link, would love to hear from you.
regards lyn

Thank you Lynn after reading your message it would appear that you are looking at the same william tee as me.
Our william was born in Northampton and shipped to australia in 1837 at the age of 21 that would be his birth date 1815 for larcany he was there for seven years, he too have some brothers but i have nothing on them yet. Do you have any links to Middleton in northamptonshire? I also have a name Elizabeth Judith Tee that i cant link with at the moment and the name robert has been mentioned. I do hope we can help each other and keep in contact.
Thanks Daphne

Hi Daphne - this is very exciting. You mentioned that William was "there for seven years" - he in fact never returned to England. He married here and had a family - which I am descendant from. After William obtained his certificate of freedom (obtained after he served his sentance) he married a lady named Eliza. They had 7 children but only the eldest & youngest (both girls) ever made it through infancy. I descend from the youngest. As I mentioned William's brother Robert was also sentenced for larceny and made his way to the district where William & his family were living. It would appear that this was not the end of their troubles as they were often before the district court for drunk and disorderly. Eliza died from intemperance in 1871, Robert from liver failure in 1874 & William age 75 in 1890. I dont know of Middleton - excuse my ignorance is this a place or a surname? Elizabeth Judith Tee - if not William's mother I would suspect a sister who was named after the mother perhaps? I am assuming that you are in the UK? I would love to keep exploring this with you - by all means continue through Ancestry or email me on my email lyn1584@gmail.com regards lyn

Hi Lyn, lovely to hear from you information that links to us. You are correct in thinking we are in the UK not only the UK but we live in Northampton. This is exciting. I have a list of the seven children and Eliza but I havent the link of who came to the uk or visa versa. Middleton is a place in northamptonshire where my grandfathers family came from.I have a link of a daughter born in 1857 who was in australia the gap between her and William, it could be his sister and not mother will have to research further.Did William have any other brother/sisiters other than Robert? I have Transportation details on William the vesel he was on was called the Norfolk voyage date 27th oct 1836 heading for New South Wales Australia. We have lots of relatives over here and look forward to exploring with you too thanks
Daphne (It is my daughter Sarah who goes on line often as i am not good with computers, you can contact her on her e-mail sarahlack@ntlworld.com)or through ancestry too.
