DNA testing proves not all Tedders are related in US
It has long been a question of various Tedder families as to whether the Tedder families that trace back to colonial North and South Carolina are in fact related and has been answered. DNA testing on just 25 markers to the Tedder line that is said to trace to Dobbs Co., NC compared to the Tedder family in Wake Co. do not share a common ancestor until evolutionary times in Africa. It would be very interesting to have descendants test of the Tedders of Cumberland Co., NC and the South Carolina Tedder lines to compare results with them as well!

Re: DNA testing proves not all Tedders are related in US
I would be interested in your data. I am in the Tedder/Tudor FamilyTreeDNA project. I descend from Harmon Tudor/Tedder of Granville and Wilkes County Nc. We know the DNA of John Tedder's two sons, Benjamin and John and their descendants. We also know the DNA of Henry Tudor's descendants from Surry County Va who went to NC as well as the DNA from George Tedder's son Samuel descendants. We also know the DNA of Soloman Tedder whose DNA, while R1b1, bears no resemblance to the other Tedders or Tudors.
Would like to compare your data. Which individuals do you have DNA from?
By any chance do you have DNA from A NC Tetterton?
You can see my work on the Tedder Family Genealogy Forum.

Re: DNA testing proves not all Tedders are related in US
I am also a descendant of Harmon Tedder (Harmon->John->John Henry[CSA POW]->Lishie). I am having trouble locating info on John Henry Tedder's siblings. I know their father, John, moved to KY for a while and moved back to NC. John Henry had quite a few sisters and I do not know who they married or when they died. Any info you may have would be appreciated.

Ernest Tedder who has been deceased for many years developed a detailed tracing of all of Harmon's descendants. It is very large and would have to be reproduced. Also, there is a summary type tracing of his descendants on the Internet.

Re: DNA testing proves not all Tedders are related in US
DNA in family tree indicates that Solomon who was in Wake is not related to other Tedders but the John and William who shortly lived in Wake relate to other Tedders. Specifically, a descendant of William's son Benjamin W, born in Wake, matches me perfectly at 37 markers. I descend from Benjamin Tudor, son of John Tedder of Surry, and brother of John Tudor.

My husband descends from Solomon Tedder who was from Wake Co., NC where he a marriage bond was issued in March 1798. He is also a member of the Tedder/Tudor FTDNA project. Please contact me privately with an email address so I can correspond with you since I no longer maintain a full time subscription to Ancestry.com. Sincerely, Dawn
