I would like to know the history of the name Tedder.
things like how is came about and famous persons
with the same last name. also.. is there a way to look it up
without having to buy some disk of information.

heres what I know... our mainstay is in the midwest to the east coast.
very few of us are on the west coast. There are also some in Canada and Germany

Roane Co. Tenn. I have some information
about James P Tedder and siblings.

Looking for information on James Tedder, born about 1827. He was married to a lady named Martha. They had at least two children, William Riley born about 1848 and Sarah. The family was living in Wilkes County, NC, in 1850 and 60.

Zechariah Tedder had a son, James, born 1825 Who died in Confederate Service of smallpox. He was married April 19,1845 to a Martha(Patsy)Brooks (1827-1891). He was living in the Mulberry Community before the Civil War and had children Sarah(1845),William Riley Tedder(1847-1874), Francis Tedder (1849) and Susannah Tedder (1856-sometime after 1904.)

According to my info., A Thomas Teder enlisted in Bradley's company as a private in the 10th R. of NC on 7/20/1778. This Thomas Tedder died in Green County, NC in 1799. About 1815 his widow(I don't know her name) and children John Brown Tedder,James A.,Benajah,and Nancy, moved to Roane Co. Tn. Both John and James were soldiers in the War of 1812.
John Brown Tedder(1789-1862)m.in 2/1821 Mary Robinson(1796-1872) in Roane County. James A Tedder (1790-?) m. 2/1821 Elizabeth Todd. Their children were #1 John Gary Tedder m. Sarah Ann Dickey 11/4/1847. #2Thomas Jefferson Tedder m. Mary E. Wilson 12/16/1847. #3 James Pleasant Tedder m.Susan C. Cofer October 3,1857. #4 Mariah J. Tedder m. Morgan B. Hawkins 10/20/1863. #5 William Alfonso Tedder m.Louise J. Cofer 11/5/1851. I used to live in Roane Co. and I know there are still Tedders who live there.

back to the message board. I have some information. Most is from William Spencer
Tedder and Melissa Cordelia McPherson, and
their family down. Maude Tedder was my mother-in-law. I would be happy to send
