Tebbs family

I have just found this site. I have done extensive research into my branch of the Tebbs family. My ancestors came from Countesthorpe in Leicestershire. My Great Great Grandfather William, was a Gentleman Farmer and he had 10 children who survived. His son Richard , my Great Grandfather was a Chemist and moved to Gainsborough Lincolnshire with Elizabeth his wife and they had 7 children, one of they John Daniel Tebbs was my Grandfather. For some unknown reason Richard left his family and went to America and no one heard anything of him again.I found out that he remarried in New York a year later and I have a copy of his marriage certificate on which he declared that he was a widower!! The family he left behind then went to live in Leeds. My Grandfather John Daniel had 4 children, the eldest Roland Daniel was my father. If any one out there has any links with the Leicestershire or Lincolnshire Tebbs, I would be glad to share info with them.Other branches of the family tree spread to West Bromwich, Kent and Great Barr in Stafford.

I know you posted your message 5 years ago but I'm hoping you are still a member of ancestry and are still researching.

I am related to a Christian Tebbs. She was born in 1803 and died in 1860. On her census returns she says she is from Sileby in Leicestershire but, unfortunately, I can't find any baptism record for her there. I do know she married John Potter, of Sileby, on the 24 Dec 1820 in Sileby and she and John had 9 children. They remained in Sileby all their lives and both are buried at the local church. Unfortunately I know nothing else of Christian (or is it Christine/Christiana?) and so wondered if you had a Christian Tebbs in your family research that might fit.
