Classification: Query
Surnames: Teakell Handley, Freeman, Grizzle, Bradford, Perry,
Eleanor Greene Hemmes here. I have been working on the Teakell family because of the person that one of them married. Parents were John Heflin Teakell and Mildred Emma Jane Freeman.
Children were:
Joicie Elizabeth Teakell m Joseph David Grizzle
Leola Teakell m William Lee Bradford
Annie F Pearl Teakell m Mark Carter
James Madison Teakell AKA Jay ? m?
Carrie N Teakell m Oscar Teakell son of Spencer Teakell
Joseph J Teakell m Dora V Sullivan
Dock Jordan Teakell m two times I think one is Nealey B
Emma Maggie Teakell m John R Handley
Mandie Victoria Teakell m John Delmer Perry. I "think" I got them all.

I am interested in the John R Handley that Emma Maggie married on the 14th of April 1913 in Hill County Texas. They were on the 1920 and 1930 Census - name spelled Hanley some of the time. No children. Maggie b 8 Aug 1894 d 6 Apr 1941 in Wichita Falls TX. She was an inmate in the County Farm. Her sister Mandie Perry "Mrs J D Perry" was the informant on her death certificate, lived in Wichita Falls and made an error. Father is listed as "Jno. H. Heflin" . Of course he was John Heflin Teakell. John R Handley's age was never consistent on the census except to note that he was much older than she was. Death cert for him says he was b in AL 12 Nov 1864 d 6 Aug 1937. He is listed as "J R Hanley" father "Jack". I can't find his grave. Both certficates say buried in Hubbard (Hill Co) I "think" without a bit of proof that he was the John R Handley who m Elizabeth Paralee Sherman in Randolph County. She died sometime between 1901 (last child) and 1910 when John was in Fisher County TX with their children and his sister's children but no wife. Any thoughts ? Be glad of any help and I do have dates but as it is late and light not very good I did not try to put all of them in.

Thank you so much for reading and be glad to try to answer questions on these folks. I got onto this because a descendant of D D Mitchell inquired about a Handley. You know how it is. I could not resist trying to find them. Alas, it has taken a week or more. Best to you Eleanor
