Searching for John TEACHMAN b. in unknown NJ ca 1810-12 . John married Anna Maria ? b. NJ ca 1830, presumably prior to 1850. One known son, Samuel L. Teachman b 30 Mar 1850 in unknown NJ, d. 9 Mar 1883 in Jersey City, NJ. Family is shown living in Tappanville, Rockland Co.NY with Samuel age 20 in 1870 and in Nyack, Rockland Co NY with Samuel, his wife Catherine Kelly and infant daughter Annabelle in 1880. Neither John or Anna appear in the 1900 census. Granddaughter Annabelle Teachman married Wm. Hamill of Dobbs Ferry, NY in 1901. Attempts to link this family to known NJ Teachmans in the 18th and 19th C. have proved negative. Any knowledge of the origins of this family would be gratefully received.

Hi Doug,
You don't give dates or parents of your Uncle Samual but it sounds as if you might be related to the family of Luke Teachman who went west in the 19th century. I suggest you check out the great Teachman site at dirtdoc@basec.net for more info on this branch of the family. I do know more about my John Teachman family t(NJ/NY) than I did last Novemeber but my branch daughtered out with my great grandmother Annabelle b. 1879 in NY. Good luck

Luke Teachman
