After reading through the previous posts I am truley confused now, as someones grandmother's name was Willie Mae. Wonder if there is any correlation?? My husbands grandfather was Willie Ray Teachey. Willie Ray's father was William Steadman*not sure of the spelling* Teachey. Clara Lee married William Steadman Teachey. That is as far as I have gotten searching his history so far. If anyone has any additional info.. please feel free to email me directly @ callen@inmind.com Thanks!

I am researching this very same family for a friend of mine. Her mother is Alma Teachey, the sister of Willie Ray. Alma was age 14 in the 1930 census and Willie was 13. You will find William Steadman Teachey, the father, in the 1930 census under Steadman, not William. Wife Clara, children Alma, Willie, Gladys and Ruby.

Hi Terry, I would be glad to help you with what I can. What do you know already? I didn't do a lot of research, but did find quite a bit through the various census records online.

Hi Maxine and Terri,

Terri I am Ruby's oldest daughter. It is nice to hear from you. If you search for my tree on line I think I have quite a bit of it. Maxine may have more. I have found a dead end. I remember my mother talking about Steadmon's dad being an only child due to the death of his father in the civil war. I believe I have found out who that is. The family goes a long way back on the Bland side. Steadman's mother was a Ester Bland - she died in the early 1930's. I will check out how to find my tree online. It is called Arlene Campbell tree.
Terri or Maxine I would love to have you contact me - arlenecampbell@onemain.com (you will need to send a reply message to my account so I can "approve" you)

Maxine I plan to come to the Newport News area in January - but no one there has heard of this yet :)

Thanks All,
Arlene Campbell

I am very interested in corresponding with you. when we were in Newport News in June, Aunt Alma mentioned the Bland side of the family.I would like to see what you've got so far. We've been able to trace my husbands father's family back as far as the 1600's. I find it fasinating.
My real name is Theresa, Terri's a nickname, given to me when I was 18 by a friend who still lives in Newport News.
