I recently came across a couple old obituraries that lists some of the children of Jacob TEACH and Catherine BARNHART. the first obituary is for Daniel TEACH who died October 23, 1904 in Xenia, Ohio. It identifies the following:
Daniel was the son of the late Jacob and Catherine TEACH and he was born in Franklin County, PA in the year 1852. He leaves three sisters; Mrs. Rosa CHAMBERS, of Cedarville (OH); Mrs. Lydia SWEENEY of Dayton (OH); Mars Katie ROYER of Spring Valley (OH); and a brother Joseph TEACH who lives in Indiana. Daniel was buried in Stevenson Cemetery, in Greene County, Ohio.

Additionally, the obituary for Daniel TEACH's sister, Rosa (TEACH) CHAMBERS, who died October 6, 1929 in Cedarville, Ohio, identifies the following:
Mrs. CHAMBERS was born in Hagerstown, MD February 22, 1837 and came to Ohio iwth her parents 75 years ago (about 1854). Her only son, William, preceded her in death. She was buried in Tarbox Cemetery (near Cedarville, Oh).

Hi. Just a tip: I have a documented set of ancestors by these exact same names, coming to IL from PA, and they were never in Ohio. Jacob Teach was a common name, but Catherine Barnhart?! We have TWO of them to contend with now? Hopefully people will very very carefully look at the LOCATION of "their" Catherine Barnhart Teach before automatically Charting a Connection! Thanks for listening!

Dear James,

Thank you so much for a adding the information about Daniel Teach.

I guess I need to raise the point that another researcher made - there are two Jacob Teach's on differing census and both it seems were born in PA in 1818. One shows up in Illinois and then there is the one I am working on Greene County, Ohio in 1860 and 1880 with the son Daniel that you wrote about. Both these men had a wife named Catherine.

Where did you get the information about Catherine'e name being Barnhart? It was not in the obituary.

My main interest is that in 1860 Cedarville, Greene Co., OH there is a George MOUNE, age 17 b. PA living with Jacob Teach and wife Catherine. This name in later records appears as MOUND and also MOWEN.

From will records in Franklin Co., PA I know that Catherine MOWEN, daughter of Stephan MOWEN was married to Jacob Teach as of 1835. I am trying to determine if the Jacob Teach in 1860 is a son of Catherine Mowen and her husband - and if I can make a connection back to a MOWEN sibling or cousin with the presense of George Mowen in the household.

I know that the there were several Teach families in Montgomery Township, Franklin County, PA. Does anyone have anything that will help to clear this mystery of the two Jacob Teach's up?

Hi,
the Jacob Teach who went to ILLINOIS is the one who is married to Catherine Barnhart. I'm a descendant of theirs.
