Hi Margaret,
It is a long time ago that I did this reseach into the Tazzyman side of my husbands family.
Mary Tazzyman married Michael Heads 18 May 1802 at Dowsby.
Her father was Thomas Tazzyman and her mother Rebecca Tingle
There are lots of different spellings of Tazzyman, ie Taseman, Tassiman, and I believe it to have been of Dutch origin. Many dutch people came to the fens of Lincolnshire to help with the drainage of that part of the country.
Thomas Tazzyman's parents were John and Mary.
Mary Mazzyman and Michel Heads were very poor. There are removal orders for this family at Lincoln Archives as they were removed from Billingborough back to their home village of Dowsby on several occasions. They had 8 children.
The eldest John Heads, bap 1804, is my husband's direct descendent.
Otheir children are
Elizabeth bap 1806 at Aslackby
Ann bap 1808 died 1811
William bap 1811 Billingborough. He was a tailor.
Ann (again) bap 1813
Thomas b 1815 in the workhouse at Bourne
Elizabeth (again) bap 1817 Sempringham
Henry bap 1821. He move to Australia in 1848 and died at Eltham near Melbourne
Mary died in 1827 and Michael married again but he died a couple of years after that and the children ended up in the Workhouse.
I visited the Spalding Gentleman's Society at Spalding some years ago and hanging on the wall in their museum is a Sampler with the name Tazzyman embroidered on it. I will have to delve into my research notes to remember what her first name was.
Cheers for now,
Marianne
