Richard Tazewell wife: Jane and/or Sarah? (1850's)
In notes taken from parish records in Taunton(Somerset), I have Richard Tazewell, son of William and Jane(Durling) married to Jane Gould, 1853, in Axbridge. John Gould, son of Richard and Jane, was baptized 14 Mar 1854. In the same records book were two daughters of Richard and Sarah: Mary Jane, baptized 13 Feb 1857, ad Anna Maria, baptized 21 Jan 1859. Is Sarah the second wife of Richard? Any and all information about Richard and Sarah will be much appreciated.

Re: Richard Tazewell wife: Jane and/or Sarah? (1850's)
To the best of my knowledge Richard Tazewell only married the once and died 6 Mar 1866. His widow Jane, nee GOULD, married Daniel STABBINS, Q4 1868, Axbridge Reg. District. Richard and Jane TAZEWELL had at least 2 children, John Gould TAZEWELL, 1854-1926, and Hannah Maria TAZEWELL, 1858 - aft 1916. They can be found in the 1861 census with their parents. I believe the Mary Jane TAZEWELL you mention was most probably the daughter of Richard and Jane TAZEWELL as I cannot find another couple that would fit. Mary Jane TAZEWELL died in infancy, in 1860. The anomoly re the girls' mother's name being entered as Sarah in the Baptism records is puzzling, unless her name was Sarah Jane (GOULD). I have those mentioned above in my tree "Taswell, linked to Limington" if it's of help.

Re: Richard Tazewell wife: Jane and/or Sarah? (1850's)
Richard Tazewell (1822-1866) was my great-great grandfather. He only had one wife, Jane Gould. Hannah Maria Tazewell (1858-1945) was the sister of John Gould Tazewell (1854-1926), so I think there is a mistranscription somewhere. After Richard's death, Jane married Daniel Stabbins in 1868 and then, to complicate matters, Hannah Maria married her stepfather's elder brother, James Stabbins, in 1881. Both Jane and Hannah Maria had Stabbins children and I have not tried to work out what relation they were to each other! John Gould Tazewell, my great grandfather, cut himself off completely from his mother and sister. Hannah Maria died in Portland, Victoria, Australia in 1945
