I'm looking for information on my great grandfather, S. R. Taylor, married to Elinor G. Gorman. Their son was my grandfather, Samuel Robert Taylor, born in Indianapolis, Indiana, in 1874. He was raised by someone other than his parents. I don't know if S. R. and Elinor died or what became of them.

William Fletcher Taylor would be, I believe, my great grandfather. My grandfather was John Robert Taylor. Father was LeRoy Taylor. My legal name is Lisa L. Taylor, and I have one full brother, Jon Evan Taylor, and one half-sister (by dad) Erin Taylor-Fielder. I married a Paetz, have two children, Tabitha and Adam Paetz, and three grandchildren by them. Do you have any info on Wright Taylor b. 1750 who married Elizabeth Temple? My son-in-law is a direct descendant through his grandmother Elizabeth May Taylor who married John E. Keller. Her parents were Arthur Taylor and Vivian Westover. Arthur was younger son of Wright (Delmar Wright) Taylor and Melvina Vaughan. Delmar was son of William Taylor and Mary Ann McCoy. William was son of Benjamin Taylor and Rachel Ernest. Benjamin was son of Wright Taylor and Elizabeth Temple. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

William A. Taylor
Funeral services for William A. Taylor, a resident of Alaska for 50 years before coming to Seattle two years ago, will be held at 3 o’clock tomorrow in the Bonney Watson Chapel followed by cremation.

Mr. Taylor, 78, died Sunday. He had been ill several months.

Mr. Taylor was a well-known miner in Nome and Fairbanks, Alaska. He has also been a mail carrier and before his retirement in 1944 he operated a grocery in Anchorage. He was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba. He was a life member of the Pioneers of Alaska. He lived at the Stratford Hotel here. Surviving are three sisters, Mrs. A.G. Pothier and Mrs. E.G. Winters, both of Edmonton, Alberta, and Mrs. Lillian Batholomew, Cranbrook, British Columbia; three brothers, Thomas, D.L. and C.S. Taylor, all of Bresaylor, Saskatchewan and a cousin, D.G.A Bannerman, Seattle.

Funeral Rites Arranged For L. Hicks Taylor
Funeral services for L. Hicks Taylor, 65, owner of an accounting company, will be held at 11 o’clock tomorrow in the Johnson & Hamilton Chapel. Cremation will follow.

Mr. Taylor died Saturday in a hospital after a short illness. He was born here, the son of the late Captain John Taylor, a Civil War veteran and former member of the City Council.

Mr. Taylor attended Broadway High School and studied accountancy by correspondence. He had been in business many years.

As a young man Mr. Taylor was a church soloist. He was a member of Eureka Lodge No. 20, F. & A.M.; Royal Arch Masons; Scottish Rite bodies; Nile Temple of the Shrine and the Washington Athletic Club. He lived at 102 Broadway North.

Surviving are a brother, J.L. Taylor, and a sister, Anna Taylor, both of Seattle.

Your Grandfather, John Critman Taylor, was my grand uncle (John Critman Taylor and my Grandfather were brothers).

Just an FYI, John Critman Taylor's DOB was 23 Apr 1900, and he died 19 Jan 1980. I think he went by Crit. His Find-A-Grave info is here:

Also, I'm not sure, but I think the 1920 Census has him as an inmate at the Kentucky House of Reform, in Lexington, KY. Happy to share any info I have on the line.

Hi, Can I ask please ask if you have any further info on these Taylor's please, as I had Taylor's come out from England around 1837 onwards, and I have a Robert and Charles that disappeared from Sydney after 1841. am wondering if you have any info, on when your Taylor's settled in Victoria.

I found many of the descendants of William Preston Taylor b 1851.

Now I also find William Preston Taylor b 9 Mar 1839 apparently in Jay Co, IN in 1852/53 at school, d Yates Center, Woodson Co, KS aft 1910. Father was William Robert Taylor b KY 1796 or 1806, lived in Fayette Co, Ohio, Grant County, Indiana, died Howard Co, IN. William's wife was Mary Polly Hoppes FaG mem 27217000.

William was an early settler in Grant Co, IN with his son Silas buried in the Pence Cem in 1841. William's son Samuel went to live in Richland, Jay Co, IN near John M. Taylor who I believe was his uncle.

There is lots of info on these TAYLORs. I am pretty sure William Robert and Mary were the parents of my Robert Taylor and so grandparents of William Preston Taylor b 1851.

About 2 years ago there was a post to Carol Ann Taylor. Two boys (now men) were looking for a connection to her. They were adopted and mentioned that she had spent time at the Camarillo State mental hospital in CA. They were looking for siblings. I know the siblings and of course could not find the post later. Hi, If my memory serves me, prior to Kentucky becoming a state it was referred as Kentucky County, Virginia.Of some of my readings I believe Virginia maintains those records for that time span.After Kentucky became a state, then depending upon where they were born would need to be looked at for the County which was/would be after the Statehood.And also depending upon which year a county was formed would hold the records.Many of my Taylor's were born in Virginia:example Kentucky County Virginia.Then after the statehood the records stayed in Virginia, then began to breakdown by county.Hope this helps!

died: 18 January 1985, Charlottesville, Virginia.

He was the son of: Maude Taylor
Born: Feb. 1888 and died: Unknown.

Maude was the daughter of: James W. Taylor (son of John Barbour Taylor and Cynthia Ann (Sentha) Jarrell)
born: 14 October 1838, Greene County, Virginia and
died: 1914, Greene County, Virginia,
and Martha Alice Taylor (daughter of James A. Taylor and Susan A. Slaughter)
born: Abt. 1846, Greene County, Virginia.

I am looking for the Father and Mother of Elizabeth Taylor (maiden name)born abt 1806. she is listed to be born in Kentucky along with her parents. However Kentucky didn't become a state still 1792 there for was still considered Virginia when her Mother and Father were born. In different family I have came across with her in it her farther is listed as John and or James with no Mother listed in any of them. Elizabeth Married a William Whitaker and a William Fields with many children. If you have information her parents any help would be great Thanks.

Robert is pictured in the Torque, yearbook of the 43-J training class of flight cadets at Pecos Army Air Field in Pecos, TX. He is a cadet in Squadron 14. I'm not kin but thought this might help someone researching the family.

Taylor of Putnam County, Georgia; Butler & Covington counties, Alabama

We have a family “Taylor puzzle.”
Greenberry Lee, whose inlaws Richard and Martha Taylor lived in Putnam County, Georgia, came to Montgomery, Ala ca 1820 with brother Ely Lee, who was born in Williamsburg, S.C. in 1800. (Greenberry Lee’s son, George Washington Lee Sr, was a legisator, writing in his biography that Greenberry was “from” Putnam County, Ga. However, there was no Putnam County for the first 8 years of Greenberry’s life-so George Washington Lee Sr must have been unaware of Greenberry’s birthplace.
Greenberry Lee and wife Martha Jane Taylor Lee for a few years attended Macedonia church in Butler Co (in the 1840s) then moved a very few miles into Covington County where they named the community Westover.
Have been unable to trace Richard Taylor of Putnam County, Ga. – not even names of his children.
To compound the puzzle, a great-grandson of Greenberry Lee (Moore Lee) quoted his grandfather (Greenberry’s son) WIlliam Lunsford Lee as saying Martha Jane Taylor Lee was born a Black, but the Taylors adopted her after her parents died.
There was a Sanford Taylor who attended Macedonia Church at the same time. But he and his brothers moved to Monroe County, Alabama and I have been unable to connect them with my Lee family.
Does the above give anyone information which “clicks”?
