Glad to hear from a Taylor with roots in Screven County. Willis Taylor mentioned in my first post is my gg-grandfather. I am 99.9% sure he is the son of Benjamin Taylor (1762-1850?) who was in Screven County as early as 1800. Willis (1794-1869) married Emilia (Millie) Avera circa 1815. My great grandmother, Nancy Taylor, was born in Screven County on June 8,1820. By 1840, Willis and his family moved to Crawford County, GA.
In addition to Benjamin Taylor's pension application I also found a record in Screven County that includes John Taylor and William Taylor of Screven County and Willis Taylor of Crawford County. These three Taylor men are part of a group of people who sold 23 acres to John Freeman. The surnames of the others involved are Spell, Grantham and Drawdy. This leads me to think they are all related but I haven't found any proof of this yet.
