I know this is an old posting but maybe you will still see this. I think I might be a descendant of Richard Taylor. I found a dna match that descends from his son Edward Taylor. On my Taylor line, I'm stuck on George Franklin Taylor whom was born abt. 1811 in New York. He married Sophia Weaver in 1835 in Warren County, Indiana. Here is why I think George was a son of Richard. George and his wife ran a hotel in Vermillion County, Indiana. I think this is Richard in the 1830 census in Vermillion County, Indiana:
Name: Richard Tayloe
[Richard Taylor]
Home in 1830 (City, County, State): Vermillion, Indiana
Free White Persons - Males - 20 thru 29: 6
Free White Persons - Males - 50 thru 59: 1
Free White Persons - Females - 5 thru 9: 2
Free White Persons - Females - 20 thru 29: 1
Free White Persons - Females - 40 thru 49: 1
Free White Persons - Under 20: 2
Free White Persons - 20 thru 49: 8
Total Free White Persons: 11

Also George Franklin Taylor named a son Richard too. Here is George, wife and children in the 1850 US census:
