TAYLER info

Looking for info on TAYLER family. Frank Tayler according to census records was born in Illinois around 1858-9. In 1880 and 1885 census records show him living in Nebraska. His first wife was Mary Ellen STUBBS. They probably had three or so children before she died circa 1895. Only their son, George TAYLER survived to adulthood. He moved in with the Shaffer family after his mother died. Frank TAYLER remarried and had at least one son, Ralph TAYLER. Ralph left Nebraska for California, where he died. Family lore is that the TAYLER family had come from NY. Also, that there is a connection to John TAYLER (1742-1829), son of William Tayler and Mary Condy or Condit. John TAYLER was acting Governor of New York for a brief period in 1817. John TAY|LER was born in New York City and moved to Albany at 17 yrs old. John TAYLER married Margaret Van VALKENBURGH, and adopted her neice Margaret VENOR, who became his sole heir. Margaret VENOR TAYLER married Charles Dekay COOPER and had five kids: John Tayler, Charles D. Jr., Elizabeth, Margaret and William.
Any help/advice/info will be appreciated. Please send e-mail.

There has been some research done on your Taylers by the National Assn of Van Valkenburg Families (NAVVF). Our late genealogist Jean E. VV mentioned some inquires she had received. If the new genealogist has received her files yet, perhaps there's something.

I was born Susan Venor in 1955. My Father was Stuart R. Venor one of two sons to William and Josaphine Venor born in 1919. His Father remained in Fla. while his Mother and brother moved to Rochester, NY. Where his parents remained separated till his father's death in 1939. if there is anything that we may have in common please feel free to contact me at my E- mail address. I do know my fathers grandparents came to the states and opened a shoe making shop in Fla.and where of German decent. That when they arrived in the states they took the first five letters off the first five streets they walked past and that is how they became Venors.

Classification: Query
Surnames: Tayler, Van Valkenburgh, Van Voltenburgh
Is that the 1850s or 1950s?? The Van Valkenburgh/ Van Voltenburgh family had folks in Jones Co, IA, in the 1850s timeframe. There were other VVs in other parts of IA and I think still are. There is at least one descendant of John Tayler VV--I think but don't hold me to it. Again I suggest contacting NAVVF website: www.van-valkenburg.org.
