I am reseaching my great-great grandfather Francis (Frank) Taxter, and would appreciate hearing from any relation. Frank was born on June 12, 1840 in Tarrytown, and served in the Union Army during the Civil War. He was married to Mary Harper and together they had 12 children (I know of only 8 -- my great-grandmother Maud, and Sarah, Minnie, James, Kate, Frederick, Fank Jr. & Mary). Frank died at Jame's home on October 23, 1924.
I've got approximate birth dates on some of the children, and would like to compile a complete family tree, if it's possible. Please feel free to email me directly, if you don't want to post a reply on this message board.

I am way way late on this. But William Taxter was my great-grandfather, and a son of Mary Harper and Frank Taxter.
William Taxter was born in 1877 and married Helen Ledwith.
Children:
Thomas Taxter 1908–
William Taxter II 1911– (my grandfather)
Albert Taxter 1912–
Genevieve Taxter 1912–2005
Helen Taxter 1916–

I have more on the decendants of some of these children as well.. but nothing else on the other children of Frank and Mary..

Hi-I saw your message and thought I'd reply. I'm James Taxter the 3rd. My grandfather and father are both James as well. My family is from Tarrytown and my grandfather died there about 1980. I know I had a relative named Frank Taxter that served during the revolutionary war. I expect that we are related in some way and would enjoy hearing from you. I reside in Phoenix, AZ. at this time. There is also a Taxter living in California (I think his name is Ted) who evidently is a cop in the L.A. area. I believe he is a cousin to my father.

Hello. I just started doing my research on my Family history. My grandmother was a Taxter born in 1912 in Tarrytown, NY. She was the daugher of Fred Jr, granddaughter of Fred and Sarah.

If there is any information that you are willing to share I would appreciate it. I am amazed at how huge the Taxters are.

Thank you

Wow-- I just started doing so searching and found this. I'm quite late but if anyone gets this I'd love to hear what you've got! My Grandmother was Anna Mae Taxter, sister to and daughter of James Taxter sr. & Jr.She passed in 1999 so the dates seem to match up.
Hope somebody responds

I, too, am researching the Taxters. My great grandmother was Charlotte Taxter Lander from Church St. in Tarrytown. She grew up on Taxter Rd., on a farm and married George Arthur Lander. Both were born in 1869 and both came from large families. George became a butcher and they raised a family of 5. Both George and Charlotte (Lotte) died in 1955. They are buried in the Tivoli portion of Sleepy Hollow Cemetery. Ann Lander Hawkins remained in the Church St. house until her death.
