Your gggrandmother, Elizabeth Tawney, was born ca 1773in Berks Co, PA, d/o John George Tawney and Margaretha Elizabeth Turckemueller. She was married in Montgomery Co, VA on 7 Sept 1793 to John Williams, by Rev. Alexander Ross. My records also show that the family was living in Miami County, Ohio in 1826, and there was a daughter named Mollie Ann wh married a Jacob Allen Albert Jr.
Elizabeth was the 4th of 8 children. Her siblings were: 1. JOHN DANIEL TAWNEY (1770-1834) m. Elizabeth Price 6 Dec 1796 in Montgomery Co, VA. Had 3 children. (This couple was my ggggrandparents). 2. CHRISTIAN TAWNEY (1771-DIED BEFORE 1817) Was not listed in father's will in 1817. 3. JANE "JENNY" TAWNEY (1772-1859) m. John Barger 20 July 1792. 10 Children 4. ELIZABETH (1773 - ????) your gggrandmother 5. JOHN GEORGE TAWNEY, JR (1775-1799) m. Catey Staley 1 Feb 1797. Had at least one daughter, Elizabeth who married William Ewebanks. 6. JOHN DAVID TAWNEY (1776 - 1856) m. Mary Ann "Polly" Price (Sister to Daniel's wife Elizabeth). 9 children. 7. BARBARA TAWNEY (1777 - ????) m. Jacob Olinger ca 1795. Lived in Knox Co, TN in 1824. 8. CATHERINE "CATY" TAWNEY (1779 - ????) m John Leftwich 16 Nov 1797 in Wythe Co, VA.

Note: In previous reply, Elizabeth's mothers name was misspelled. Mother's name was Margaretha Elizabeth Truckemueller, not Turckemueller.

Phyllis,
I also have very limited info on John Williams, Elizabeth's husband. I do know someone who has researched the Williams family, and I should be able to contact him re further info on John. I don't remember without digging into my records, but I believe John was the grandson of German immigrants Heinrich Wilhelm (Williams) and Anna Elizabeth Preisch (Price) who came to America on the "Queen Elizabeth" on 16 Sept 1738. Heinrich (Henry) and Anna Elizabeth then came to the Shenandoah Valley of VA, dying there in the mid 1750's and leaving three orphan sons: Philip, Michael, and George Henry who married Martaretha Harless, d/o Philip and Margaretha Preisch (Price)Harless. The Tawney - Price - Harless - Williams families have several ties during that period, and most of the records can be found in old Augusta, Montgomery, Botetourt, Giles Counties VA records. The Tawney's settled in Berks Co., PA, but Elizabeth's father Johan George moved to the Virginia area, settling near what is now Wythesville, VA where he died.
Elizabeth and John Williams daughter Mary Anna, more commonly known as "Mollie Ann", married her 2nd cousin, Jacob Allen Albert, Jr. on 25 February 1822. (Jacob's mother and John Williams who married Elizabeth Tawney were first cousins). Jacob's parents were Jacob Allen Albert Sr. and Elizabeth Williams. Elizabeth was the daughter of George Henry Williams and Margaretha Harless Williams. I believe John was the son of one of George Henry's brothers, either Phillip or Michael, but will have to have more time to check this out before I can verify this information.
I sent you an e-mail with my address on it. Please either telephone me or write me regarding other contacts I may be able to give you re research on the Williams family.
