I am very interested in any info. on Joseph Taubel, "Sr." He was my great-grandfather. He ended up changing his name to Deaubl because of conflicts with his fathers new wife. This is about all I have on him and would appreciate any info that can be given. Thanks So much.

Hi Diane...If you are looking for the father of Joseph Deaubl (who was married to Susan Welbes), I think you may be my cousin. Is your father and mother James and Priscilla? And the next question, how much information do you have about any of the Deaubls or Welbes's?? I have none, and would like some...would you ever share what you have?? Please email me...would like to hear from you on all questions...regards...Sylvia (Cumber) Vassar

I was wondering what time frame you were looking at, because my great grandfather was also named Joseph Taubel, although he did not change his name. I understand that Taubel is a big family, but maybe I could still help you with what you are looking for.

Amber, thank you for replying...My grandfather Joseph Deaubl (could be Taubel) would have been born in the 1880 - 1888 range. I was told he was born in Chilton WI, but can find no supporting evidence of this. Story has it that his mother died and his father re-married. The new wife did not like the connotation of the name, and it was eventually changed to Taubel. I have no way of knowing whether or not that is so. Now, if your Gr.Grandfather is the father to my Grandfather, we could be onto something. Where - and when- was your Gr.Grandfather born...married...died...he could possibly be who i am looking for...reply if any of this makes sense to you...I am eager to find out...we may be related, who knows??? Take care...Sylvia

Sylvia, I have talked to my grandmother, and she said that your story is quite possibly true. She said that she knows of relatives all over the United States, but no one knows if and how we are all related, because when they came over from germany and that, they came at differnet times, and they were all spread out, and over the years the connections were lost, and so today, we have no proof of knowing who's who. She said that the Joseph you are looking for is not my great grandfather, but could be my great grandfater's brother. She mentioned a John Taubel? Since the family history was lost, it is hard to tell if we are talking about the same family. It is possible though, grandma says that there are Taubel's in Millwalke Wisconsin. And they are more than likely the ones you are talking about. SHe also said that there is relatives in Arizona trying to figure out our family history and our family tree. They have contacted us, but my grandpa Taubel's father died when he was just a baby, and he knows nothing of his family hisory. I hope that this helps you some... Let me know if I can help you any further. GOOD LUCK!!.... Amber

Amber, thank you for sharing...I think also we could be at opposite ends of the family tree here, but the brother theory is interesting, I may have to dig some more into that. You mentioned relatives in Arizona...My Aunt Forest Deaubl (and her son Charles) live in Tucson AZ. Uncle Joe (Deaubl) died there some years ago. If it should turn out that they are the relatives in Arizona, please let me know, because then we ARE on the same track...will contact you if I find out anything helpful...Good luck in your search...Sylvia Vassar

Hi,
I was looking through this web site and noticed you were talking about Taubels in the Milwaukee area. I live there along with my father and mother Rodney and Sandra and 5 other brothers and sisters. We also have a number of relatives in the Green Bay, WI area. I didn't go through any other messages so I don't know what you're looking for, but maybe I can help, if so just let me know.

Take care,

Scott Taubel

This was also the name of my great-grandfather. If we have the same person, we can check further. Ours was born Mar. 2, 1850, Zemun, Yugoslavia, and died in 1920. The "a" inn the last name must have a German umlaut on it.
