I am looking for the family of my father, Alexander. He was born 15Aug1916. He came here from Krakow, Poland when he was 18. His father's name was Stanislaw, his brothers were Eugene, Joseph. Sisters were Mildred (Hashi), Elizabeth, and Josephine.
If any information is known, please email me at jb81218@alltel.net

Hello JoAnn, my name is Michelle. My mother was Mary Ann Galus the daughter of Mildred Frances Tatara Galus or (Hashi). I have very little information on my grandmother's family. I remember visiting Liz (Elizabeth Szaro) growing up. She lived down the street from my grandmother. I would appreciate any information that you may have. I look forward to hearing from you.

Hi Michelle. Sorry it's taken me so long to get back to you. I haven't checked this site for some time. So Ciocia Hashi was your grandma? I don't have a whole lot of information on my dad's side. He died when I was 6 and it seems no on said anything about that side after he was gone. I think his dad went back to Poland and stayed there. So did his sister Josephine. I remember something about a step sister Janka. I will try to get the information I have together and send it to you. Does your mom and anyone remember anything?

Hi, it nice to hear back from you! I have been busy as well so no worries. My mother passed away in 1989, but if she was still alive I bet she would remember a lot more information. My dad remembers a "Josephine"? (He thought that she might have been a step sister or half sister.) He said that my mom always would talk to her at family gatherings and do things with her. He thought that she might have been younger or maybe had Downs Syndrome. He was not sure about that but it was the impression that he remembers of her. I have no pictures of her that I know of. I did however run across a photo album of my grandma's (Ciocia Hashi). (Someday I will learn enough Polish to translate that :) ). If you can give me a email address I can forward them to you to see if you would recognize anyone . I have a feeling that the people pictured in there are of my grandfather's (Thomas Galus) family. I am not sure on that either since I don't know most of the people pictured in there as well. I did contact my uncle to see if he would be able to help me identify the people in the photo album. I have yet to hear back from him. You can contact me here on Ancestry.com or by my email address: michellesmejkal@frii.com. Thanks, Michelle

The story I have-keep in mind I was 6 when my dad passed so this is what I have learned from the remaining family-is my dad's parents-Stanley and Frances-were living in Omaha when in 1920 Grandma Frances died. Grandpa Stanley took all the kids and went back to Poland to live-not sure where in Poland. My dad, Alex, Ciocia Hashi and Ciocia Liz all came back here. Josephine stayed in Poland. I have a census sheet with the name "Valerie" on it too. Looks like she was born in 1919. Never heard of her before. I was always told my dad was the baby so I don't know if she died at an early age or what.
One of my nephews, Alex, spoke either to Ciocia Hashi or Ciocia Liz years ago and found out a bunch of history. He was doing a report for school on Genealogy. Of course since years have passed and he has moved several times it's tucked in a box somewhere.
When my dad died I remember a Janka being at the house. I want to say she was a step sister of my dads. I just remember she didn't look very happy-mean looking sort of. After dad died I never heard any more about that side of the family.I don't think I ever heard what town they came from. I was always just Polan. My mom died in 1977 when I was too young to worry about genealogy. Now when I'm trying to piece it all together for my kids I hit brick walls.
I too have several letters written in Polish. I usually sit online at a translator site to try to decipher some of it. Most of the replies from letters I sent to Poland trying to see if we were related to any of them came back in English thankfully. Polish isn't such a common language...lol.
When my mom passed my sister took the house and everything in it including all the pictures and what ever else information was in there. She keeps telling me she hasn't found anything but I don't think she can bring herself to part with any of it. If you want to send those pictures that would be awesome. My email address is jmburbridge@msn.com.
Since I was off of Ancestry for so long when I hit a wall they deactivated my account. I wasn't going to reactivate it since I can't go any further with the names I have but I just traced my husband's family back to 1601. So I'll have to reactivate it now to see how many "green leaves" I have! I'm not sure if you can see any of the information I have entered or not. If not I'll have to make it so you can. I'll let you know when I reactivate.
Nice talking to you!

I will send you those family pictures to your email address. I am hoping that between the two of us we should be able to identify a few people. I will send them to you in multiple emails so that they wont bog down your computer. Thanks for all of your help. I really appreciate it. Michelle

PS. I can also set it up so that you can view my family tree as well.

Can you tell me how to let you see my tree? I can't seem to figure it out. Can you see it already?

To share your family tree:
1. You need to sign in to your family tree and be on your tree page (ie... "The Smith Family Tree").
2. Next to the name of your family tree, you should see "tree pages" with a pull down arrow. Click on the pull down arrow and it will pull up a menu which should read:
Tree Overview, Media Gallery, All Hints, Facebook Import, Tree Settings.
3. Click on Tree Settings and it should pull up "Invite to family tree" you can use email (enter my email address) or the ancestry button and use my user name . This should work for you.

I received the invite and I was able to log in but it had some error on the Ancestry.com site. It would not let me view your tree. The site said that it was temporary unavailable and to try back soon. So I will wait a day or two and try again. If it does not work again, I will let you know. Were you able to log on to my tree?
