I know a little bit about this name. My great-aunt, Agnella Garvens, was married to Conrad Thomas Taschler. He was adopted by Gabriel Taschler. His birth name was Laskowitz. Agnella and Tom had a son named Tommy Taschler (b. 1930)who lives in AZ.

Surname: TASCHLER

Teresa,

Thank you for responding.

For now I am looking for simple oral histories with dates and places of birth, marriage and death and current address if still living as well as information of parents, grandparents, great ... etc.

There are fewer than 600 people in Europe and America with the Taschler surname. My goal is to trace as many of the Taschler name as far back as possible to see where it all links up. One woman in Vienna traced her name back to a soldier in Napolean's army who went AWOL in Burgenland Austria. So far that is the oldest reference to Taschler that I knopw of. Likely, it was an alias or a corruption of the name Tischler of which there are tens of thousands.

So, I would be grateful for any and all information that you could provide.

Thank you.

Robert C. Taschler, b. Aug 31 1955 NY, NY

P.S. It would be easiest if we could correspond via e-mail instead of through this message board.

I held a reunion for the Pittsburgh, PA, branch of the Taschler family last summer and have a fairly complete Tafel diagram of all the descendents from John and Marie Taschler
who emigrated to this country from Austria-Hungary circa 1910. If you are related it must be through the Austria-Hungary branch, of which I know nothing.

Hi. Thanks for your message. I would be greatful for anyting that you would be willing to share, either documented or oral. The Tashler name is quite unusual so I am trying to trace back any and all lines to see where they lead. Many Taschlers came out of Burgenland, a state in Austria east of Vienna along the Hungarian Border. I am near New York City and have gone digging in the immigration records. Unfortunately, you often need a good idea of dates and ship's names before you can find the records you seek so anything you would share would be helpful on getting documentation.
