I am looking for info on Joseph TASCHEY (spelling phonetic) and his wife Sophia and their daughter Adelia (b. 1827 in NY).
Adelia married Frederick MONVILLE (or deMONTREVILLE), a French Canadian. They had 2 children: Lavinia and Edward. Edward was born Oct. 13, 1849, and was only about 4 or 5 yrs. old when his mother Adelia TASCHEY MONVILLE died and so we don't know exactly how TASCHEY was spelled. Adelia and Frederick spoke French-Canadian and so did their children. Eventually, after Adelia's death, Frederick remarried an English speaking school teacher from NY (last name thought to be STACEY???) who taught Edward and Lavinia to speak English. The MONVILLE/deMONTREVILLEs moved west to Hannibal, MO, and lived there at the time of the Civil War.
Edward (nicknamed "Frenchy") worked on the railroad as an engineer serving on the routes going West to Denver, CO, and South to St. Louis, MO. Edward's dad lived to be 103 and his son lived to be about 97. Edward's daughter Emma lived to be 99 1/2 and was my grandmother.
Does anyone have family info that fits into all/some/any of this??? I'm having a lot of trouble tracking the TASCHEYs and also the deMONTREVILLEs because of the unsureness of the exact spelling. Hope someone out there can help!
