YOUNGSTOWN – Services will be Saturday, May 8, 2010, at 10 a.m. at the Victory Lutheran Church, 2110 Glenwood Ave., for Mrs. Carolyn Y. Roney, 54, who departed this life Monday, May 3, 2010, at University Hospital in Cleveland, Ohio.

Mrs. Roney was born Sept. 11, 1955, in Louisville, Kentucky, a daughter of James and Minnie Irby Tarver.

She attended Youngstown, Ohio City Schools and John Knox computer classes, and worked with various companies in their maintenance departments.

She was a member of the Victory Lutheran Church, its choir, van and culinary ministries. She was also a member of the Urban League. She enjoyed knitting, going to the park, bingo, shopping and dining out.

She leaves to cherish her memory three children, Larry Tarver and Telly and James Smith, all of Youngstown, Ohio; one brother, James (Jackie) Tarver of Texas; seven sisters, Marguerita (Edward) Odem of Pennsylvania, Charlotte, Denise, Regina and Twanda Tarver, all of Youngstown, Deborah Tarver of Cleveland and Alisa Harmon of Hubbard, Ohio; four grandchildren; and a host of family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her father; mother and stepfather, Minnie and Edward Zanders; and two sisters, Barbara Atkins and Telina Cleveland.

Friends may call Saturday from 9 to 10 a.m. at the church.
