Jessie Mae Tarver
WAGARVILLE, AL Tarver Jessie Mae Tarver was born in Coffee County, Alabama on January 25, 1918. She was the daughter of John and Lillie Sutley. She grew up in Wagarville, Washington County, AL. and moved to Mobile during WWII while her husband worked at the shipyard. They returned to Wagarville in 1952 where she remained until she died peacefully in her sleep on May 4, 2008. Her life was centered around raising her nine children, gardening and working on the family farm. She loved to cook, sew and serve her family and friends. She was a member of the Order Of Eastern Star. She was a member of Ebenezer United Methodist Church where she had been a member of the choir. She is survived by her husband of 71 years, Douglas Tarver of Wagarville, AL.; her daughters, Shirley Steadham of Daphne, AL., Ella (John) Davis of Wagarville, AL., Carolyn (James) Knight of Wagarville, AL.; her sons, John Tarver of Huntsvile, AL., Charles (Susan) Tarver of Atlanta, GA., Larry (Patti) Tarver of Titusville, FL., Harry Tarver of Mobile, AL., Lynn Tarver of Snoqualmie, WA., Kenneth Tarver of Wagarville, AL.; 13 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great-grandchildren. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. until 7p.m. Wednesday at Ebenezer United Methodist Church in Wagarville. The service is set for 1 p.m. Thursday at the church. Burial will be at the church cemetery. The family states that you may send flowers, or donations may be made to Ebenezer United Methodist Church in honor of Mrs. Tarver. The church address is 159 Churchway Dr., Wagarville, AL 36585.
