FITZWILLIAM - Ruth M. (Plante) Tardiff, 96, formerly of 98 Rhododendron Road, died Thursday morning, Feb. 19 in Good Shepherd Nursing Home, Jaffrey.She was born in Fitzwilliam on Aug. 25, 1918, daughter of the late Arthur J. and Jennie M. (Johnson) Plante and was a lifelong resident of Fitzwilliam.Ruth graduated from Keene High School in 1936. She worked as an assembler at Signal Engineering and later worked with her husband, owning and operating the former Plante's Store. She attended Fitzwilliam Community Church.Her husband of 58 years, Joseph E. Tardiff, died in 2006. A brother, John Plante, died in combat during World War Two.Private committal services will be held in the spring at Village Cemetery, Fitzwilliam.
