Your e-mail address does not come out when you go through this web site. Contact me at www.mtnbiker@frazmtn.com" target="_blank">www.mtnbiker@frazmtn.com. Looking at the messages on the Tapia board, it appears there were two major early migrations into what is now the US. One to California in 1776 and one into the New Mexico area. There should be a common Tapia both Tapia groups desended from. If you have a tree you can send it to me in either Family Tree or GED format.

Tapia's from New Mexico

How do I find out more about the Tapia's from New Mexico? My great grandfather, Augistin(e) Tapia appears on a 1920 census for Arizona in Morenci. The census gives his age as 46......putting his birth year 1873/1874, (depending if his birthday was after January) and born in New Mexico. It says both his parents were born in Mexico and I have their names (from my mom) as Teafilo and Gomencina (Gomez) Tapia. What would be the next logical move to make? Any insight would be great!

Sorry I took so long to get back to you. First you should purchase a genealogy program for your computer. I suggest Family Tree Maker. Buy the least expensive without all the CDs. You can then purchase their World Family Tree online service from about $59-79 per year and search their data base. I looked and couldn't find your great-granfather. Next post your message on several message boards. I'll get back you with some suggestions. Last you can go the Morman Temple Genealogy library and look at their microfilms.

Classification: Birth
My grandfather was born in New Mexico, Albequerque I believe, his name was George Tapia, and died in 1968. His daughter Mary Lou Tapia is my mother, who lives in Merced, and her brother Rosendo Thomas Tapia lives in San Pedro. Please write back to let me know if there is the possibility of being family, thanks......carlos alarcon jr.

Surnames: Tapia
To be honest, I would not know if there is any connection from my line to yours. It would be great if there was!

My great grandfather, Augustine Tapia, was born in New Mexico @1874 and I have him documented on a 1920 census with his wife, Conception and their children living in Morenci Arizona. (Their daughter, my grandmother, Isabelle Tapia married Jose de Jesus Flores (from Mexico)
Augustine parent's names are Teafilo and Gomencina Tapia and according to that 1920 census, they were born in Mexico.
I don't know how to find out where in New Mexico Augustine was born and/or if he had any brother or sisters.
I hope by my posting enough messages, that someone will have a connection to my line.
Thanks for replying,
Anita
