Am just starting search. Attempting to collaborate oral histories.
My grandfather was Julius Takacs who settled in Pittsburgh/ Braddock, Pennsylvania. His parents are said to have come to the U.S. first and eventually settled in the Brownsville/San Antonio area of Texas. His first wife - last name possibly Spiegal - had a son (John or Joseph) and a daughter (Veronica?) always called Millie. His parents took John or Joseph to Texas with them after the death due to childbirth of his first wife. We are looking for
the long lost John or Joseph and his children - John would likely me in his mid to late seventies. He is said to have had only one visit to Pittburgh after moving to Texas as a boy. Julius Takacs then Married Mary Ann Wagner and they had five children, including my father.

I've noted that members of this Takacs family have the names Elizabeth, Andrew, and Andrea. There is said to be family burried in Trenton/Princton New Jersey area. Relatives also named Takach. Intermarriage with Kozak. Thankyou

My father, William Joseph Takach, was born in N. Braddock PA in Jan 1915; son of John Takac and Mary Granovski. They moved to Cedar Rapids Iowa, where the "h" was added. John and Mary meant at the Bethlehem Slovak Congregational Church and William was baptized there. John came from Budapest, Mary from Garloc,Slovakia(?). Just a footnote, Debi.

Hi, my name is Andrea. My grandmother was Elizabeth Andrea de Takacs. Her father was Andre Chevalier de Takacs, a commercial artist and composer of popular music. He died in NYC in 1926. His father, my grandmother told me, was Count Andre de Takacs from Hungary. That's as far back as I can get. However, it sounds like the same family, with Elizabeth and Andrea in there. Where do you fit in?

My great-grandfather was Andre Chevalier de Takacs. He was an artist who illustrated the covers of popular sheet music, and he also wrote music. My grandmother (his daughter) said that he went to Hollywood to work in movies. This would have been before 1925, because he died in New York in 1926. His father was Andre de Takacs, a Hungarian count, and was married to Terese Chevalier. My grandmother was born Elizabeth Andrea de Takacs. Her mother was Elizabeth Alberta (Bessie) Schenkel.
