I've been reading your David A. Taff information on Ancestry.com message board. He is also the great, great grandfather of my husband Doyle C. Taff. Doyle's great grandfather was William Oglesbury (W.O.) Taff. He was the oldest child of David A. and his first wife Margaret Cox.
W.O. died December 7, 1886 and is buried in the Rankin Cemetary, Franklin Co., Arkansas. He had 3 children with Mary E. Arp:
Georgia Taff -born 1881
Evy Taff -born 1883, died 1886 ( buried next to W.O.)
Horace Gideon Taff -born January 20, 1886
Horace Gideon (Gid) was my hsuband's grandfather.
Just a little bit of info on W.O. Taff - he served as a Justice of the Peace from 1880-1882 for Whiterock Township, Franklin County, Arkansas. We have the original certificate making him Justice of the Peace. He was shot and killed going through the gate of his property in the Lone Elm Community, Whiterock Township, Franklin County, Arkansas.
Re: David A. Taff - we too were wondering why he was in Cooke Co, Texas and somewhere, I have come across something tha said one of his younger sons moved to Texas. From what I have found in the census, David actually had 3 wives: Margaret Cox, Anna, and then Lydia.
Looking forward to more information. We also want to visit David's grave.
The Taff's are a very large family!
