Tafelski family of South Bend, Indiana
I am researching the Tafelski family of South Bend, Indiana. Lawrence Tafelski (1865-1955) and his wife Maryann Kajzer Tafelski (1865-1949) immigrated to the United States in 1891 or 1892 and settled permanently in South Bend, Indiana by 1900. They had 7 children. My great grandmother was the oldest child, and the only one born in Poland, Catherine Tafelski Burzynski (1889-1982). I know a great deal about Maryann Kajzer Tafelski's family, but I know absolutely nothing about Lawrence Tafelski's family: parents, siblings, etc. Has anyone come across him in their research?

I am not certain, but I think my dad, ALVIN may have as his mom Catherine. We live in Toledo, and I think the Burzynski name sounds familar. My name is Lawrence Tafelsk, born in 1950 in Toledo.

Re: Tafelski family of South Bend, Indiana
As far as I know, Catherine Tafelski Burzynski did not have a brother named Alvin or a son named Alvin.
Catherine Tafelski Burzynski's parents were Lawrence Tafelski (1865-1955) and Maryann Kajzer Tafelski (1865-1949). Catherine's brothers and sisters were:
Stanley (1892-1970) Walter (1896-1965) William (1900-1970) Genevieve (1906-1978) John (1893-1963) Vern (1902-1997)
Catherine was born in 1889 and died in 1982.
When Lawrence died in 1955, his obituary did not indicate he was survived by any brothers or sisters, but he was 90 when he died, so this is not all that surprising. Do you have any pre-1955 Tafelski obituaries that mention Lawrence Tafelski? Toledo is not that far from South Bend, so it is entirely possible our Tafelski family is somehow intertwined.
