My stepfather was Horst Frederick TAEGER ( 1920-1996) He used the name Fred H. Taeger and I am just beginning to explore his family history. He was born in Magdeburg and his parents were Paul Emil Taeger and Ottilie Klose. His grandfather was Frederick Taeger, but that is just about the extent of what I know so far. I am interested in discovering how common a name TAEGER is in Germany and the orgins of the surname. I would like to hear from any TAEGERS from the Magdeburg area of Germany, or someone with information about that family.

Don, I saw your post on the Taeger surname list and am very interested in sharing information with you. I don't know how common the Taeger name is in Magdeburg, but it is very possible that we have a common heritage. At least we could work on finding out more information. Please contact me privately. I tried to send you a note, but your mailbox was full. Linda Cole

where did the family move to. I have seen so many of the family members say they were from that area. I am not sure why they had moved farther east.
I would like to correspond about your family.
thank you

Hi dear Taeger's,
I'm Alexander Taeger from Frankfurt am Main in Germany and I'm the son of Albert Taeger mentioned below, who was born in Magdeburg in 1929 an now livin in the south of Germany (Lahr im Schawrzwald).
Albert and Dolores Taeger have 6 children (Luzian, Katharina, Thomas, Sonja, Alexander, Michael).
I was born in Muenster in 1960 and when I was 2 years old my parents moved to Lahr. Now I'm married an we have two sons Robin (13) an Marcel (15), living together with me as a "patchwork-papa", so they are from my wifes first marriage.
I would like to come in close contact to other Taeger's in USA, Germany and anywhere else, because of the second worl war our family was devided and spread over whole Germany (east and west) and ...??? who knows ?
It would be a pleasure hearing from you.
Regards, Alexander Taeger

I am the daughter of Horst Frederick Taeger born
1920 in Magdeburg Germany. His parents were Paul Emil Taeger born 1894 in Loberg and Ottile Elise Klose born 1894
in St Goarhausen on the Rhine. My father's parents immigrated to the United States in 1923. They became U.S. citizens in 1941.

I am interested in information about my grandfather's father, Frederick Taeger who was a master carpenter and my great grandmother, Augusta Muth. My grandfather Paul Taeger was their youngest child.

The Taeger men (and women) I've got were born much earlier. Most of them were born, married and died in Hohendodeleben, a little village about 4 miles from Magdeburg.

The English/American prename Frederick is Friedrich in German. In my files there is one Friedrich Taeger. He must have been in the 1830s or 40s and died before 1893. His son was Gustav Taeger * July 20,1862 + Sept.7,1928. He was married to Auguste Riecke. Their daughter was Olga Auguste, * Feb. 17,1901

The earlier (male) Taeger on my list were born between 1660 and 1759.
