I am the son of Roy and Frances Taeger born in 1945 in Burlington, Iowa. I would love to hear from other Taeges, especially those from Iowa, Burlington, West Burlington, Sperry, Danville, and that area. Thank you.

An extensive genealogy of a Taeger family can be found on www.familysearch.com.
As best as we can determine, the name Tegeder, later Taegeder and then Taeger orginated in Nahrendorf, Kreis Bleckede, Luneberg, Germany about 1550. They were orginally farmers. This can be found in a "Taeger Family" book written by Dr. Rudolf Erdmann Kurt Taeger during the 1930s of Dresden, Germany. The also is a Taeger coat of arms from this line of Taegers.
As to the Taegers from Des Moines County, I have received a copy of Taeger history from Iowa, but I am not sure if there is any connection. Based upon how rare the name appears to be - I would make an educated guess - that most likely there is a connection.
If anybody knows of this connection I would certainly be interested. Ralph Taeger

I read this after searching information for city of Blechede. I did try to find the information on familysearach.com. I saw some names. But your family is from the very village that my family is from blechede and Nahrendorf. I would reallly like to learn more. Perhaps there could have been a mixture of our surnames of the past.
so could we talk or write more.
thank you

Are your ancestors there yet this day? what about Oldendorf ?
I wouldn't mind some direction for a chance to learn of your history and maybe what or where the people of Nahrendorf came. Were there many from France or danish. where did they come from?.What kind of settlements and why. etc. I have heard of the excavation that they are doing not far from there. The earliest people.
And what was the village like.
I did get a little history of Dahlenburg from an chronicle written by Charlote Wodage. I have been trying to find something more. I have been thinking of the lds film. do you thik I would have a good chance to learn which Meyers remain from that.?

Have you heard of Roethen? I am jsut not sure where my Meyer family along with the Fredrich Schroeder family lived. They worked at that game refuge at Roethen. In a book written about the Prince Frederich it says he went to Hunt at Gohrde, after his child was born. Which is that same area. The address aIhave been given by churches in Iowa was Nahrendorf. The church records say thay were land owners at Oldendorf . Another Juergen Friedrich Meyer also was from this area with Heins from Eimke and Dreillingen They have a relationship to Sander and Mueller. And their is the Meyer line of Dubbeck who have one of Hamburg also. In Dahlenburg we have the Jonas line that has Rademachers of Meyer and Luhmann and Janecke[ others]. I have the Luhmann and Behrens, Riess, Bartel, Barthel, Pagel, Schlaphof,, Brese,Mueller, Carsten,Gerhrke,Reinceke ,Schultze and Schultze of the Eickdorf, and Neetzendorf area. Of the Nahrendorf area I have the Seil, Schmidt, Brookman and Korn . some of these came from Gross Thorndorf of Himbergen. And the Heins of Bergen area Siddernhausen, Belsen,Soltau and Fallingbostel. Diesten, Nindorf, etc and many more give me names such as Straatman, Houer, Schmidt,Behrens,Hohls, Brammer, Koch, Winkelmann, von Hoerston, Kothe, Meierhof, obermeier,, Timme, a page of surnames. I haven't gotten the names from Henke yet from Munster- Fassberg...I have some from Oertze
I am not sure who married into the families at Nahrendorf and Oldendorf.

I have surnames of people who were kothners and musicus {?} and renters, as well as landowners. My Wilhelm worked at Horn before marrying. [ nudlitz?] It did seem that my group moved a little. My first knowledge of Meyer is from Radenbeck- Thomasburg. Every time they moved they had different people for batismal sponsers. At Nahrendorf/ Oldendorf they had:
Warnecke, Schmidt, Lussmann Saucke, Bartel, Lyssman, Ellerman, Klug, Krug,Naefke, Schroeder. Petersen; Mosel, Hann,Seil, werner or Warner,Winkelman, [ I am missing a few]
One hardly sees a Lyssmann name.

It does seem that I am missing two brothers and no names. I have many others that I am not aware of. The mother was suppose to have died 1855 after this move to Nahrendorf. Juergen Friedrich Meyer may have remarried. I guess I keep grasping at straws to find names to see if they may have married into these families.
Four sisters and only a guess of their married names. Stille, Koenig, Fehring. and Sch??? No idea of married here or there or even if they came.

My family were simple shepherds and cattleman before the move to Oldendorf and Nahrendorf. Perhaps it is this class dististinquishment is why someone could live in the same village and not be connected to the other. Maybe why they seem to have broken some old ties.
You may email me if you like.
thank you for your time. and patience.
Meyer

I am from Burlington. My grandmother was Janet Taeger. Her parents were David and Esther Taeger of New London. I have pictures of Great grandpa (David Taeger) and his siblings but I still have to go visit my great Aunt to find out who is who.
