My maternal grandfather was born Herbert Tadd on 28 December 1886 in Cardiff. His father was George Tadd from Bradford, Wilts. and mother Emma Grace Draper of Easterton, Wilts. Emma (who seemed to be known more often as Grace)later married a Mark Taylor. Herbert took his step-fathers name. I am willing to share what little I have. Perhaps you can see a connection.

I show a Charles Albert Tadd as a GGreat Uncle.
His father was Frederic Tadd born in Wilts 5-31-1859.
His father would be Sam (Samuel) Tadd
I have a connection in England that might know us

Difficult to help you I'm afraid. My Tadd's in Wiltshire moved to Wales by 1886, where my grandfather was born. I believe he had three sisters. His father died and his mother remarried. My grandfather then took his step-fathers name. My mother "by rights" should have been a Tadd where it not for the name change.
Edwin is a Welsh name, so maybe...?

Anita, my maiden name was Tadd, and my Tadds came from Wiltshire. During the course of researching them, I have made notes of all the Tadds I've come across, in particular when searching the Births, Marriages and Deaths registers in London.
I have found an Edwin James Tadd born in the June quarter of 1890, in the Westhampnett district of Sussex. There was a very large contingent of Tadds (unrelated to me) there, and there are still ancestors living there today. If you feel it would be any help, I could let you have their names.
And BINGO, I have just found the marriage of Edwin James Tadd to "Morgan" in the March quarter of 1916, again in the Westhampnett district of Sussex. So I guess he just moved his names around!
Looking further, I have found the birth of a son, Ronald E. Tadd to them, in the December quarter of 1919, in Godstone.
I do hope you get this email, and if you don't already have the above information, I can put you in touch with your likely relations.

Maggie,

Hi my name is Amy and I have Tadd relatives that come from Wiltshire, England. Namely Samuel Tadd b. 1822 he was the son of John Tadd b. 1786 and Ophellia b. 1792. Samuel came to America about 1872 and settled in New York for several years before coming to DeKalb Illinois. He (Samuel) was married to Sarah Humphries. I am trying to locate some documentation about their live in New York and Wiltshire England.

Amy, I do have some information about this family, though as yet I'm not clear whether they're part of my own family. I have also been in touch with someone else in the USA about these particular Tadds. Please contact me off this list, at the email address shown above for any further details. Look forward to hearing from you.
