I find your information posted to being very interesting. My Great Great Grandparents last name was Tadei. They came from East Prussia to Sask. Canada in 1891. I am assuming that the spelling of their last name was changed and could have been the same spelling as your relatives, Tadajewski. I am thinking that Leocadia's father John could be a brother to my Great Great Grandfather Julius (Carl) Tadei. I see that he married a Mary Malinowska and I know that Fritz and Caroline Malinowski came with them from East Prussia to Canada in 1891. If you have any information please email me directly. lmarston@telus.net.

Hi Lindsey. Surnames: Thadday,Tadday, Taday, Tadaj, Tadei I have met very often in West Prussia during my research especialy in warminsko-mazurskie province (capital is Olsztyn). Most of them were lutherans. The first names: Carl, Fritz, Julius, Wilhelmine confirms that they were on 99% lutherans. Only in two lutherans parishes Wittigwalde and Manchenguth in the years 1874-1896 I met 28 families of the surname Tadday. Surname Malinowski is very common in Poland and it is no daubt polish surname. I suppose that John Tadajewski was roman-catholic. The first names of his children confirms it. So I do not think that your Julius,Carl was a brother of John. Moreover John was born in Russia (Poland under Russian occupation). It is mentioned in his immigration record. In the another line with both used surnames Thaddey and Tadajewski I have Carl Tadday born 24.04.1812 in Zbiczno (Prussia, lutheran parish - Strasburg, now Brodnica,Poland), his vife was Anna. She died in 1881 in Zbiczno. So I think you should concentrate your research on surname Taddei, Tadday not Tadajewski. I hope I helped you. In case of furter question feel free ask. Andrzej Tadajewski
