I finally solved one mystery. Papa Tackitt's brother, Nathan, apparently died between September 1897 and June 1900. I found his wife on the 1900 Navarro Co census, remarried to John Jones with Nathan's two sons: Ben, born in January 1891, and Edward, born in May 1898. Nathan could have died in either Limestone or Navarro Co and Callie could have remarried in either county. I need to look at marriage records. The census shows that Callie was born in April 1876 and had born four children, three of whom were still living. Is the census wrong, was she pregnant with an unborn child, or was there a child the census taker failed to write down or who was visiting someone at the time?

This all ties in with a story that R.C. told me. He said that Nathan had a couple of sons who butchered a shoat while Nathan and his wife were gone to town. They had done it just like they had seen their Daddy do.
