Surnames: Tacey, Robson
I believe George W. Tacey may have had a few wives. His first was Jane Jefferson, and they had a son, Jefferson Tacey, b. 1830 in Kilham, Yorkshire (abt 30 miles from Hull). Jefferson married Maud Matilda Robson, the daughter of my 3x great grandparents - and they came over to Virginia with George. Jefferson's obituary says they came over in 1849, but they were in England at the 1851 census. They must have left soon afterwards as a daughter, Mary, was born in Virginia around 1851. I particularly interested in trying to establish if she married and carried on the line.

Jefferson died in 1880 and Maud in 1887.

Thanks for the new info! I had alway's wondered what George's first wife's name was. I talked to my great great Uncle ted. and he said that they came to america on a ship called "la belle creole." he can't remember a mary tacey but he is going to look in all of his old letters to trace any of those names. he assumed that jefferson was george's brother not son. I do know that one of George's other wives names was Eliza hughes. they had some kids or quite possibly just one.
