Dear Martin.

Its been a while! But since time has passed I have done more research. You are definately relation.
I have a photo of Jefferson Tacey that was with a bunch of other Tacey family photos. I could never place him in the picture as I couldnt' find any birth records of him here. My Grand Uncle always said that George William Tacey came over from Hull England with either a brother or a son. Being in contact with another distant reative helped shed light on who he was. She told me that from her notes of an elderly relative that George first married in England to a Jane Jefferson. She died and is buried there. That they had a son Jefferson. It was said that it was this Jefferson who came with George to the US. From what you are saying also Jeffersons wife. Since all this info.. I have found that Jefferson was a member of the masonic order (knights templer) in Alexandria Va. I have found him on rosters. Hence the pic of him I have in this uniform. Actually looks like a painting but not sure! I have seen this name of Maude as well.. they resided in Alexandria Virginia. I don't know any more than that. I will have to keep digging.
Great to converse with a distant relative from England!
I had the opportunity to travel there back in 2002. I rented a car and drove the entire cost from Hull up to Scottland it was so beautiful.. especially Northumberland costal areas/Yorkhire..area.. I do wish to return one day and really spend some time discovering this area and my roots.

If you wish contact me: nervin@hotmail.com I will be more than happy to send to you this photo of Jefferson. I have much info on his father..after he arrived to the States.

i just got a reply from someone that knew George w. tacey's frist wife's name. her name was jane jefferson and they lived in kilham yorkshire england. they had a son jefferson tacey who in turn married a maud matilda robson. they had a daughter mary and they moved to virginia with george. i believe that jane jefferson died over in england and george remarried when he got to america. im related to ted cavey. he is my great great uncle and he had no clue what george's first wife's name was. i hope this help's alot!

p.s. kilham yorkshire is about 30 miles from hull, where george was supposed to be born. a letter sent to my uncle stated that one of george's parents was from yorkshire and the other was from scotland. im assuming that his father was the one from scotland, seeing as how tacey is a english name.

Hi, Joyce. I too remain at a standstill with my ancestor, Randolph Bernard Tacy, who some feel came from France into the territory of that country, now Louisiana. Later got married in Fluvanna County, VA, his wife and he had several children, then they were later buried in Pocahontas County, WV. Military and swordsmanship lore follow this gentlemen, who claimed to be a doctor. So the quote about this Jefferson Tacey caught my imagination, being in uniform. Could it be? Was RBT born in England, or VA, instead of France, or LA? I will check the census records on Jefferson, but wondered if you have anything additional? Thanks!
