I am researching a family by the name of TACE - is this perhaps related to the TACEY surname in any way ?? Any help appreciated.

Hi Carlene,
We'd love to help you figure it out. Tacey is actually an Americanized version of both the French Tessier and a few other names in Irish/English/German.
Where/when did your family appear in the US? Share what you have and maybe we can help you figure out where to turn next.

My mother-in-laws father was Harry Thomas Metcalfe, born 3rd April 1917 to Harry Lily Priscilla Louisa Metcalfe [formerly Tace/Taee born 20th March 1898] of 169 Ardgowan Rd, Catford, London. Lily's parents were Richard Samuel Lilian Emma [formerly Challenger] Tace/Taee of 17 Balaclava Rd, Bermondsey, London.
Do you think this family might be part of the Tacey history ??? It is such an unusual name and from the 2 birth certs I have, it is impossible to tell whether it says Tace or Taee.
Your help is much appreciated. Kind Regards Carleen Boyd

Boy, really can't tell much about the British. What I do know about the name Tacey in the Midwestern US is that it generally was a derivative of the French-Canadian name Tessier...based on an almost phonetic spelling. But when you get into the 20th Century British empire, it gets much trickier.
I'm no expert on British genealogy by any stretch. But I do know that for over 200 years, there were numerous foreign influences as colonization occurred. Whether this is a derivative of the Irish Eustache, as was posted on here earlier, a spelling error or other attempt at phoneticizing a name, I couldn't tell. But let everyone on the forum take a look and see if it rings any bells.

The name you are not sure of is Lillian TAEE not Tace, she was married to Harry Metcalfe and was Harry Thomas Metcalfe's mother, my husband Richard Aikman is the son of Lily and was a half brother to Harry Thomas Taee
