My family name in TABAKA, but has been badly misspelled over the years. My grandfather came from POLAND thru Ellis Island in 1899, and they spelled his name TABACHKA. My great uncles settled in NY & Pa then migrated to MI and MN. Do any of these given names sound familiar to you: ADAM, ANTON, WALENTY (Valentine), JACOB, TEKLA (Tillie)?
Thank you, Christine Tabaka

Hi Gerald,
I'm still trying to figure out how the Shaw (Shochen) family is related. My dad, Henry Teman, died last year and said that Henry Tabakin was his cousin, but couldn't quite connect how the relationship worked.

Hi:
My father was William David Sindell, born in NY in 1899, and his father (my grandfather) was Benjamin Sindell, born in Jaslo, Austria (Galicia region) about 1870-1880. I know that there were other members of the family who came to the US but have not been able to find them. I have heard of the Sindells in Cleveland but can´t find a connection as yet. Unfortunately, at this point in time, I do not have any living relatives from prior generations. If you think there might be a connection with David Sindell, please let me know. Sorry to have taken so long to respond.
Stu Sindell

My mother is a Tabakin, her father was Joseph Issac Tabakin who married Pearl whose maiden name was Weinstein, though I don't know if we are related to Henry Tabakin. I just purchased a book by Dr. Henry Tabakin (1885-1963), "Only Two Remained." I've just started reading it. It looks interesting and includes a picture of Bertchick Tabakin, Henry's father.
