Yep - we're related. ANTON TABAKA married SOPHIA SROCZYK KRUSCH (widow of John Krusch) on May 19, 1907 in St. Casimir's Church in MAhaony City, PA . My grandfather ADAM TABAKA was the witness. I have the documents. Adam was Anton's older brother.

Two other of ANTON's grandsons (Stan & Kent) are researching with me, alsong with Anton's sister TEKLA's daughter, Tillie. I'll send you the family chart via Email - it's LONG!
Christine

Peter,
Your grandfather Valentine Tabaka used the name Alex (last name misspelled Tabako, Tobako, Tobako). He was born in 1871 in Sokolow Poland (Galicia). His parents were John Tabaka & Catherine Kuduk. He came to America & married Mary Swaja in NYC in 1897. He moved to Ironwood, Michgan in 1902. He had 4 brothers & one sister: Jacob, Adam (my grandfather), Piotr/Peter, Anton, and Tekla (Tillie). I am your second cousin. Your other second-cousins Stan, & Kent, & I have a large amount of information on the family.

Hi Christine,
Alexander Valentine was also my grandfather. I have the following anecdotal information about the family.
Valentine (Alex) was born in Sokolaw Austria 1/14/1872 and came to the US in 1895. He died 1945. He married Mariana Swaja, who died in the 1950s. I do not have an exact date for her, but I do remember her. She lived with us for a while in Glenview Il. My grandparents lived most of their lives in Ironwood MI.
Alex and Mariana had 7 living children and 5 others who died at birth.
1) Katherine was born in 1888 in NY NY and she married John Sieraski - they had 3 chiildren: Lawrence, Clemence, and Teodore. My aunt Katherine lived in Wisconsin.
2) Sophie was born in 1900 and she married Steve Kudak. They had one child (adopted): Adam and I seem to remember they lived in Detroit?
3). Anna was born in 1902 in Ny NY and died 1987. She married Steve Czerniawski and they had one child: Frank.
4). Rose was born in 1904 in Ironwood and died in 1965.
5). Thomas was born in 1907 in Ironwood and married Marion - they had 2 children, Carolyn and Thomas Jr.
6). Helen was born in 1913 in Ironwood and married Ray Milton. They had one child: Stanley.
7). Peter (my father )was born in 1914 in Ironwood, he married Anne Pascoe: they had 4 children, Patricia (myself), Robert, Janice, and Peter Jr. Peter and Anne are still alive and they are living in Columbia MD, where I myself live.
8), Francis was born in 1918 in Ironwood and died in 1965. She married Robert Noyes and they had one child: Catherine who was born in 1938. Aunt Francis and Uncle Bob lived in Harvey IL.

My father, Peter, is the only surviving child from Alex and Mariana's family. We spell our name TOBAKA, I am not sure where that came from.
I would love to hear more!

Pattee,
WOW, howdy. I have a ton of stuff for you (including your grandmother's death certificate). I will email you the family chart, and put you in contact with several second-cousins also researching the line. I have gotten records from back in Poland. The village where Pitor & his brothers & sister were born was called Wolka Lezajska, and the new name is Wolka Niedzwiedzka. They used the church in the larger town nearby of Sokolwo Malopolski. I will try to email you. If it doesn't work, contact me at:

Hello Everyone!
Peter (Piotr) Tabaka was my Grandfather.

Peter originally came to the USA in 1905, worked in the Pennsylvania coal mines for a few years, went back to Galicia (don't know why) and then returned to the USA. He settled in Minnesota, where his brother Anton also lived. Yes, he had another brother that settled in Ironwood, Michigan, and yet another that settled in New Jersey (whom he visited by train once).

Peter married Maryanna Kuduk from Poland and settled in Minneapolis. They had 12 children (all born in the USA).

Francis (Francie) (dead) married Joe Grebowski (dead) (no children)
John (Jay) dead married (Bea) (dead) (no children) and later remarried Gertie
Stanly (Stan) (dead) married Florence Sultze (dead) (Three daughters) later remarried, Mae
Walter (dead) Married Theresa Vogel (dead) (Two sons, one daughter died as an infant)
Angela (Sister Inez) (no children)
Rose (Rosie) married Gene Romanski (two sons, one adopted)
Sophia (my Mother) married Joseph (dead) (Three sons, two daughters)
Agnes (Annie) (dead) married Jerome Novak (dead) (Five daughters, one son)
Catherine (Katy) married Stan Mack (Three sons, two daughters)
Carloline (Carry) married John Rominski (Five sons)
Peter (dead) married Giesela (no children)
On Sister died as a child.

Of course there are many children and great grandchildren of Piotr Tabaka, most of which are still living in MN.
