Hi, Jen. I believe I'm distantly related to your husband through his mother Dolores May Sloan. She was the daughter of Dennis Paul Sloan and Marguerite Klein.
Dennis was the son of Isaac Newton Sloan and Ida May Decker, and therefore, half-brother to my grandmother Thelma Olive Sloan, who married Gustave Wilhelm Sawade and produced my mother Merlyn Collis Sawade, who, with my father William Harvey McGinnis, produced me, Debra Jean McGinnis McLamb.
Here's the interesting part: neither my mother nor I ever heard of Dennis, even though he was raised by his dad and 2nd wife MInnie Pritchett, at least through 1900, in Mt. Carmel, IL.
Dennis had a sister, Mable, and I knew her well. The way they treated each other, I thought she was a full sister to Thelma and her sister Collis. There was also a brother, Charley.
So I would love to know about Dennis, Isaac, Ida May and Minnie, since I never knew them. Was there a schism in the family that separated Dennis, or was he just busy with his own life?
If you or Fred know anything about them, please let me know. I will attempt to e-mail you this message as well, and thanks for your help.
Deb McLamb
