Seeking information about my Great Grandfather and family: William P.J. Taaffe, b. Ire. 1838, came to USA 1865 and settled in NYC. Married Anna (nee?? - want to know!): she was b. in Ire. 1849, came to USA 1870. They had nine children, all born between 1871 and 1888. As of 1900+, names of six known children are: William (Jr.), Mary, (who married a McCahill and had a son, Joseph), Margaret, Thomas, Anna (a school teacher) and Christine (my Grandmother), all born in NY. Per the 1900 Census for NY, looks like Wm. (and his son, Wm.), were working as clerks in a "brewery" (? - nearly illegible, best guess) at that time. I have more details and am willing to share. I will deeply appreciate any information or suspicions. Thanks very much, and best of luck in your own searches.

I must apologize for not being familiar with the means of answering a message.
However, I believe that William Taaffe was also my Geat Grandfather. His son
Thomas, my grandfather, married the daughter of the lawyer that handled the
brewery. I don't have much more than old recolections of a family tie to a
Taafe street and a Catholic Monsignor both in Brooklyn N.Y.C.
Perhaps if we get togeter with e-mail we can put more together.

Whilst trying to trace my Taaffe family in Ireland I came across two births of Mary Taaffe, one born about 1574, spouse Walter Plunkett and the other born about 1712, spouse also a Walter Plunkett. I thought this may be of some interest to you, unfortunately I have had no luck with my family
regards and good luck.

Hi,
I was just at the St. Agnes Cemetery in Menands, NY this afternoon as was surprised to find a number of Taaffe's in one of my family plots. One of them was a Monsignor William Taffee who passed away in 1960. Since we've never heard the surname before we were left wondering who they were and how we were all related.
They are in the plot of Rev. William Browne.

I read your posts with Prentiss from 2001 . I'm a Taaffe from Ireland with mons. Thomas Taaffe who Taaffe's Place & Taaffe's Playground in Brooklyn is named after, in our tree. Fr Thomas brother William born in Ireland,we believe fought in the American Civil War. I did try to email you on yahoo but it did not send. Maybe we are on different pass but you never know.
