My gggrandmother was Mary Taaffe, born in Kilkeedy Parish, just outside Tubber, Clare, in 1841. Her parents were George Jr. and Mary Murphy, and she had two sisters, Ann and Bridget. She came to Connecticut in 1862, but soon left to sail around the Horn to San Francisco. She married Michael Millerick here in 1868 and they both died in the 1891 flu epidemic in San Francisco. There were other Taaffes in Kilkeedy in 1833, but they were all gone by 1855. There are still Taaffes in Ruan, the next parish east, but I don't know the connection. Any ideas on how to go further generations back?

There is a Taaffe Cemetary in Forman, Arkansas with nothing but Taaffe's buried there. I have quite a bit of info given to me by a lady named Maize Cannon that lives in foreman. She told me a lot about this family. They were one of the first Arkansas legislatures. And so much more. Please contact me at the above address.

I know Jim Taaffe of Los Altos Hills. He is one of the decendence of the Taaffe/Murphys.

He worked for my husband and I happen to be a Taffe. My father was James Mathew Taffe of Circleville Ohio. I think that somehow we are related to these Taaffes because Jim Taaffe very much looks like my father.

I still can't find out much about my family. Only that my great-great-grandfather was Patrick Taaffe married to Alice McGinnis. He was the father of my great-grandfather Mathew Taaffe who married Sarah Catherine Allen. They had Richard Patrick Taffe, my grandfather who was married to Margaret Smallwood. Richard was first generation American. The others were all born somewhere in Ireland. I just recently discovered that Mathew was in the Civil War which puts him here much earlier than I had known. They settled in Circleville Ohio where my father was born.

Hi Sharon, Thank you for your response. Are you still in contact with Jim Taaffe? If so, I would be interested in contacting him directly. Please let me know. Thank you. I don't have very much information on the Taaffe family other than what I have starting with William Post Taaffe and his marriage to Elizabeth Yuba Murphy and then their descendants. I'm sorry that I couldn't help more. Karen

I am looking for any living relatives of Mary Taaffe, born in 1841 in Ireland. She later married Michael Millerick, born 1836, in 1868. I believe Kevin Quattrin may be one. Please contact me via e-mail! Mary Taaffe is my g-g-g-grandmother and I am hoping to surprise my grandmother with this for her birthday!
