Re: Taaffes in Ireland, circa 1700
Hi there, Can you tell me who the parents were of Patrick Taaffe. My great grandfather was born in Dunleer, Louth on 18 October 1847 and he had a brother called Patt who was baptised 7 Feb 1843. Wondering if there is a link at all.

Re: Taaffes in Ireland, circa 1700
Patrick Joseph Taaffe born 1871 and Mary Elizabeth McMahan married 17 Feb 1899 his parents where Patrick Taaffe ( i'm not sure as I cant find details, if his name also incorperated John)and Mary Elizabeth Carpenter her parents are Isaac Carpenter and Elizabeth Mary Fizgibbons. I got all this information off of Patrick and Mary's Marriage Certificate.

One of my ancestors about 4 or 5 generations ago was Lawrence Taaffe from Ireland. All that I know as of now is that he immigrated from Ireland, moved to San Francisco,Ca., was an educator who founded the Humboldt Evening School for Boys and St. Mary's College all of San Francisco. I have seen reference in old newsprint around 1906 just after the earthquake, but have not found anything further. I believe he was married to Mary (not sure) and it was reported that he was a very large man around 6 1/2 feet tall. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

From what my mom told me I'm related to Peter taaffe but she told me that we later on down the line changed it to Taft to be more American, do you know anything about that

Would love to see this tree. As my GG grandfather was Tobe Taaffee. The story I was told is that George, being a very wealthy family in Ireland, his head was offered up on a platter to anyone who would, and would inherit all of his riches. This is when they escaped to America. There is a Taffee Cemetery in Forman, AR.

Hi Kevin, I believe we are related. My grandfather was Temple Thomas Taffe. He was from Swan Hill, Melbourne Australia. He had 2 brothers and 1 sister. He came to the US to drive his motorcycle here. War broke out and he stayed. He met my grandmother who was from County Mayo, Ireland at a dance in Chicago. His family was originally from Sligo. We went there a year ago and the Taffee bar is still thriving in Sligo, Ireland. He married my grandmother RoseAnn Taffee and they had 7 children. My mother was Rita Ann Taffee and it now Rita Rose. It would be so nice to connect.
