My husband is a descendent of Michael Teaffe who was a Pennsylvania Indian trader who is mentioned in a book about an Indian trader George Cogran. They worked together from 1749-1754 according to this book. According to family lore he was killed by Indians and left orphan childdren. His daughter Ruth Hockley Teaffe married Isaac Wayne Thomas and lived in Philadelphia PA area. I am interested in any Teaffe information you might share. Thank you.

Re: Taaffes in Ireland, circa 1700
Hi, I,too, am a descendant of the Taaffe Clan in Ireland. I have a great, great grandfather James Taaffe who left Ireland in 1848-1849. I have recently published a novel called GEMS OF REDEMPTION: The Saga of an Irish Clan based on direct oral tradition and a great deal of historical research on the Taaffe Clan. You may like to read it. The website is www.gemsofredemption.com or you can get it through Amazon or another seller. Please contact me if you have any questions or comments or just want to share stories. (We probably are related!) Barbara Tath (modern Irish form of Taaffe.)

Hi Cousin Sue, I know it has been along time, I am connected to you thru your Grandmother Elizabeth Cantwell. my Grandmother is Jeanne Lansdowne. this is a really old post that I am replying to, but in hopes that someone will see it and have some info as what I am trying to find. I have the connection ( I beleve I have this figured out) that we are a decsendants of James Taaffe, so here it goes from my side, Taaffe to English to Cantwell to Lansdowne to Kugler to McDonald to Workman ( which is me). I cant seem to find anything about the Lansdowne's. I know that Frank B. Lansdowne was my Great Grandfather, he had a Brother named Gaylord and a sister named Lula. the brothers were doctors. Frank was born in MO. and lived in WI. They're father was born in Ohio and his, was born in Wales. I know that they are related to Lt. Cmndr. Zachary Lansdowne of Ohio who died in the crash of the Shenandoah. I know it seems alot of info, but there is alot of missing links. just wondering, by posting this, someone may have more info or you may have come across something. Oh yes I believe also by reading all these posts that I have dicovered more distant relatives,, awesome! HELLO COUSINS!!! Brenda Workman

Re: Harriet Taffe in Ireland
Jenny, this is an old post but I hope you're still out there? I have recently discovered my Taffe/Taaffe ancestors lived in Co. Westmeath. I don't know if there could be an extended family connection? My mother was born, unofficially adopted and raised in England. I have recently traced her natural mother. She was Mary Josephine Taaffe born in 1907 to Joseph and Margaret Taffe who were in Coolnagun at that time, and I think I found the family in Dunamon in the 1911 census. By then there were 6 children, John; Joseph; Mary; Christina; Kathleen and Margaret. I am trying to find more information on the family, and wonder if you have discovered more about your relatives. It would be good to keep in touch and share our findings? Eileen
