Hi Kevin,
Ihave written history on the Taaffe family traced to 300AD. My father name changed in USA to Taff--His is William Taff born in 1923 from Dale Taff which came from Drogheda county louth in Ireland...There would be Peter and Patrick and so forth from there...Way back they came from Wales as one of the three clans to defend Ireland and most settled into Ireland and were considered part of Irish nobility. I am in Ireland now with buisness when I get home I will have my writing with me and you can contact me by email..Take care
Mary Josephine Taff

Hi Mary Josephine,
I live in Australia and am tracing my Mum's family. I sat up and took notice of your message because we have discovered that the name of her birth mother was Mary Josephine Taaffe. (Mum was raised by another family in England).
I have the birth certificate of Mary Josephine, who was born in 1907 in Coolnagun, Westmeath, birth registered in Granard.
As far as I have been able to trace her family is the 1911 census when they were living in Dunamon, still in Westmeath.
Her parents are Joseph and Margaret (shown as Taffe). I have not been able to find Joseph's family in the 1911 census, though he says he was born in Westmeath. Margaret's family are from nearby Co Longford.
Have you any information about the Taaffe's in this part of Ireland? I would be grateful for any help you can give. It must be wonderful to be in Ireland, and seeing all the places we are only reading about. Google earth is brilliant, but its not the same as being there. The local churchyards must be a wonderful source of information?
I am interested in any information about the history of the Taaffe's in general, too.
Looking forward to your reply.
Eileen

Hi Lisa, thanks for this wonderful offer. I'd like to put you in touch with Larry and Becky Taff of Cabool, MO. He is the current "keeper of the Taff family records." Prior to my husband's death (he was a Taff descendant) I maintained an extensive database of Peter Taaffee's descendants. Please contact me at sjogibson@windstream.net.
Thanks so much for contacting the family.

Hello Mary Jo
My name is Jeff Taffe from Minnesota, USA. Wondering if you have any Taaffe/Taffe info on my Michael Taaffe. Born apx 1833-1835. His father was Michael as well. His mothers name was Mary. His wife's name was Ellen Considine. From County Clare is all I know. Would love to trace our line as far back as possible. But I hit a dead end. Any help would be great.

Interesting! My great great great great grandmother was Bridgit Taaffe Co Rosscommon, who in 1738 eloped with George Mac Donagh to Killoran in Sligo. I have been trying to track Bridgit parents as in 1739 with the death of George Taaff the estate transfered un der Penal laws to a Protestant, Any information would be helpful as I have the Taafe Family Tree fromn 1740 t0 1968
