Searching for descendants of Janos Szucs (Sich/Sic) born 1877. Janos first entered the US in December 1905 on the ship Carpathia. He was travelling to his “Brother in law” in Uniontown, Pennsylvania, (Fayette County).
His home village was known by several names Csarnatő, Černá, Chernaya, and Cherna. Janos was an ethnic Ruthenian, however his village has been part of Hungary, Czechoslovakia, and the Ukraine during the last century. It even borders on Romania. Therefore his nationality may change on paperwork over time.
Records of other people traveling from the same village and WWI draft records place him in Uniontown in 1918 with a possible wife by the name of Mary. This Szucs/Sic/Sich family was related by marriage to the Simkovic family. The Simkovic family migrated from Fayette County, PA to the Lorain Ohio area. It is possible Janos (John) moved with them.
I am not a relative. But I am helping relatives of Janos in Europe. They are scattered in a few countries I would like to know what happened to the American branch of their family.
